Eazy flat out told people Cube wrote his raps. Drake's camp flat out told people "if you got other people writing your shyt, you're a fraud".

No one ever did. At least not the audience. Royce wrote The Message for Dre...you would think that would have people with pitchforks coming after him. Elvis barely wrote anything. Ultimately, these are performers, they are selling you affectation. I prefer a great performer over someone who writes their own material but can't be charismatic to save their life (Joell Ortiz).

You're comparing two things that have nothing to do with each other. The thread is about ghost writing, and you're in here asking why did Eazy diss Dre when they were beefing, despite working with him prior to that. Gee, I dunno....because they were beefing and no longer working together?

I was in middle school when Vanilla Ice was out and his problems started when he got caught lying about going to school in Miami.

Kanye, Ghostface, ODB, Snoop, this isn't anything new of course...people forget that a lot of these guys are performers. You never had to write your own songs to be considered talented. Sinatra, Elvis, Sammy Davis Jr, James Brown, etc all covered and or sang songs not written by them. Only in hip hop is this a "thing".

Nah nikka you picking and choosing, you trying to bob and weave like you had valid point with Dre being a "she thang".

And there's no pass needed when you aren't trying to sell yourself like you are some MC. Puffy admitting to not writing his raps on can't hold me down wasn't a surprise or even a problem because nobody rated him in that capacity.

Drake on the other hand was literally lauded for bringing lyricism back to Hip Hop..he has gone above and beyond to build his brand and his credibility on being an MC and not just a showman or some kinda producer/talent curator like a Dr. Dre.

Keeping it strictly rap related if it came out that Proof wrote the majority of Eminem's raps his credibility would be shot...not because nobody has ever had a ghostwriter, but because his selling point was his talent as a rapper.

It sounds sexist but the truth of the matter is female MC's weren't taken that serious to be ranking/rating or even be discussing on that level...and that was the era where they were actually getting some shine.
