Did You Know Any Female Gamers Growing Up?

when I was growing up there was like zero chicks I knew that played games

is it just me or did all these female gamers come out of nowhere the last 6 years or so

Yeah, in high school my friends that were girls would play with us guys all the time. Tony Hawk, SC2, etc. They weren't hardcore or anything, but they were fun to play with.

And don't forget the whole Guitar Hero/Rock Band time period. Girls were all over that shyt.

Depends on your definition of gamer.

I knew plenty that played games sometimes, but I can't recall any offhand that I'd say were hardcore about it.

in the 90s? uhh hell tf no. Especially not in the "hood".....this is definitely the generation of girl gamers whether they are serious about their gaming or just doing it for the money. The latter seems to be mostly the reason for the insurgence tho

I was in highschool from 2002-2006 and no chicks I knew were gamers. some of the hotter ones were damn near even when it came to us playing games

for someone in highschool/college now, it must be pretty normal for there to be a lot of female gamers

I never knew many girl gamers growing up. I met a few at comic cons and such as an adult. They all seem to love Kingdom Hearts

Growing up...yeah, not really. Only on rare cases did I come across any females that could even casually be considered "good" at games. My wife can play platformers moderately well enough tho, but of course, choosing to rarely ever play them, in favor of playing all the dumb, non-game "games" out there that are on cell phones and such. Even then, she rarely plays them.

At my local fighting game scene, there's only 1 girl that consistently shows up to tourneys and she's...ok. She can actually do combos, moves and has some sort of method of gameplan going on, but she's pretty free to me. There's been about 2-3 others that I've seen come before and actually play on occasion and they were a few steps below her skill level. At best, at least they're better than like those celebrities that was on the e-league a few weeks ago, Lupe included.

There is. Woman can multitask better than men, but men see the whole picture better. You'd think that would make women better at some games, where you have to manage your inventory, go to the right place on the map, etc. I think women just don't attack games the same way as men. They're looking for something different. This is a mostly male board, so we don't get their perspectives that much.

Not really. I mean I knew a few girls who played games in middle school.. Other than that not on some sitting at the lunch table arguing about games gaming girls.
