I'm kind of a nerd myself but I never hear anyone talking about Dragonball Z outside the coli.

Then again I'm a little older so I grew up on Transformers, Voltron, G. I. Joe. I watched most of that one DBZ season with Cell but that's it.

But I can't browse the coli without seeing references to Goku, Vegeta, super saiyan, etc. and stuff like this
http://www.thecoli.com/threads/step...ver-get-to-a-real-life-goku-vs-vegeta.427481/

It's probably cause I don't talk to a lot of people younger than early 30's.

Honestly dragon ball is the only anime I hear people talking about...I didn't realize naruton was that popular until I got on here.

Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, Naruto, Sailor Moon, Inu-Yasha, Soeed Racer, Gundam, etc.
You were into anime just by force of being a kid in the 80s, 90s and 2000s.

I'm an 80s baby and aside from Akira, have never watched anime in my life. My closest friends, all in their mid-30s, were never into it either :manny:

You older than me you Madea-looking bifocal bespectacled brokeback bytchboy. The irony of a guy who starts taking karate lessons in his 30's talking about someone trying to relate to young people. :mjlol:

Yeah as stated before when the Cartoon Network started showing the series it opened it up to a huge audience that didn't really know about anime. I remember seeing some of the episodes and telling my cousin (who was heavy into anime) and he was like "breh them episodes is from the early 90's" so if you were already into anime you knew about it but I think a lot of people who were fans of DBZ became fans after Cartoon Network started showing it.

Yea we used to watch DBZ all the time. I'm 33 and I probably started in about 6th grade. I still prefer the subbed versions as opposed to the English dubs because that's what we watched most.

Don't know if anyone else had them but we used to buy the subbed vhs tapes from a store called Software Seconds.

Yeah, I did and so did my homie back in HS. We would talk on the phone as Cartoon Network showed (one damn episode) it in the afternoon.

We used to get hype for the fights, til we realized that these things get dragged on for weeks sometimes without anyone barely throwing a punch

But Buzzfeed said black people don't like anime :troll:

It's easier to say growing up who didn't like DBZ or anything shown on Toonami
