That’s one of the key things the men in my family taught me. If a man tries it, I’m fighting to the death. And as they say, “It would be a good death”. I’m very sweet and girlie so that can throw people off, because if you attempt to take it there you will see the fire in my eyes before you feel it. lol
I would literally be insulted if a man ever thought I would be the type to just stand there and be beaten.
I would always say “I wear stilettos for more than one reason”. 🤷🏾‍♀️
Ma’am! . I wouldn’t be able to look my elders in the face if I was getting lumped up by some dumb ass coward. I avoid weak dudes looking to try and “put or keep bytches in their places”.
I’ve never even had a verbally abusive relationship. I’ve never heard my mother being called a bytch/hoe/ect. Never seen my father taking licks or getting called out his name either.

That shyt is so far removed from our reality that we don’t know WHAT the fukk we liable to do if disrespected like that. Some people think it’s cute or cultural or whatever. They think dysfunction is “tough love”.

But I keep telling people. You better know who to try that dumb shyt with. Mess around and get fed some shyt that have you bleeding outta every orifice.

Exactly.

I always knew that if someone hit me the men would ask “And what did you do”?

Not what I did to provoke him, but what I did to retaliate! Lol

No.

My grandparents on my dad’s side have been married 60+ years. My grandmother recently passed due to covid at 85. She was loved and well taken care of, and I seen that throughout my childhood. My grandfather is a wreck without her now, and whenever we have gone to visit her gravesite, I caught my grandfather mumbling how he was going to be up there with her soon. He was a hard man, but we’ve always said how my grandmother was the only one that could soften him up. He took care of her, bathed her, rolled her around in her wheelchair well for the past 30 years, as arthritis limited her to a wheelchair.

My grandmother on my moms side lost her husband, my grandfather, long ago, when I was around 5. She never remarried, telling us he was the only man she wanted to be with. We all pitch in in taking care of her. My grandfather owned a corner store on the southside of Lumberton, and took care of her.

I’m thankful for my grandfathers. Along with my father, they were strong men who I look up to.

No on both sides. On one side, while he was abusive to the kids, he never even raised his voice to his wife and on the other, he was the most laid back person ever. He would get drunk but he was a happy drunk that acted silly while drunk that apparently made everyone laugh.
This is my great grandfather :russ:

He was a goofy drunk. During the family reunions, one of the stories that’s always told and usually gets the whole room laughing, is how my great grandfather used to get drunk telling jokes to my kinfolk and the people around the way, and would pass out under this tree they have in the yard. They would ask my great grandma what to do with him, and she’d say just leave him there, he’ll be alright. He was good to my great grandmother, and my grandmother loved him. She used to tell us so many stories about him. My grandma named my dad after him, and then my mom named me after both my dad and great grandfather.

Yes, on both sides.

My dads mom eventually got sick of the bullshyt and shot that nikka.

This all happened before i was born. As far as i could tell they were a happy couple, my grandpa just had a limp :mjlol:

Funny how you hear these stories which this thread shows is VERY common of grandma buckin and fighting back in a lot of situations.

But many men put hands on women back then and some paid the price for it too.

Times was different back then.

It was pretty much normal for dudes to be abusive, absent ass, cheating husbands.

Until the women started to fight back.

I swear growing up i would a never believed what happened between them. My grandpa was well trained by the time i was around. Treated my grandma real good.

I guess a bullet lodged in your back would do that to you. :wow:

I'm laughing because alot of you looking at your grands current or most recent behavior lmao.

If he was mean and beat the children best believe grandma got it too.

Then all that shyt about grandma was mean so no...why do you think granny was mean??? What happened was there came a evolution where women decided to stop getting they ass whipped...but prior to that they were being beat or at the least fighting.

Unless your granny just married a goofy nikka fir that time.
