Smartphones and social media destroyed dancing in the club. I guess bottle service era contributed some too.

As recently as 2005/06/07 I was in the mega clubs that use to be in DC dancing on chicks, but the difference is there was no Facebook/IG/Twitter and internet wasn't on the phone or not ubiquitous.

As a former club manager and promoter in Atlanta specifically at two of the premiere clubs at the time (Vision and Compound), he is not wrong in the least bit. Clubs are a soulless, shell of themselves compared to how they were when it was an event. Now its just a place to make sure you are seen. And its not just Atlanta. Its all everywhere. Only Reggae and Dancehall spots still got that feeling. Some latin clubs still got it but very few.

THIIIISSSS!!!!! You'll never catch my at no hip hop top 40 spot and I only fukk with African/Soca/Dancehall events. Everyone thinks there too cool for school at them hip hop jams now. If I do a hip hop joint it's usually a 90's jam people from that generation still dance.
