I get what he's attempting to convey, but it's not the source of the problem. Yes there's an internal struggle within ourselves and within our community. Is this a problem? Yes, lack of self respect is a major issue, but it's not why Black people are being murdered. Saying self-respect is the problem is basically saying everybody that's been murdered by the cops lacked self-respect. That's an indictment on the victim, which is an injustice within itself. Trigger-happy police officers have to be held accountable as well the justice system and the government for a miscarriage of justice for allowing them to get off. Self-respect doesn't stop bullets and brutality from prejudice predators who hide behind badges.
