Its was all good just a year ago
King Dion was averaging almost 20 per after the all-star break hittin game winners and shyt

He was a 6th man that whole year. On Cuse squad that wasn't shyt. No clue why he was picked where he was.I thought he started for Syracuse...maybe he was starting just during the NCAA tourney....but he certainly got starter level playing time
*update* Yea he actually won the big east sixth man of the year award his sophomore year, but in that tourney I could've sworn he started(that's when I pay attention to other conferenced teams)...maybe that's the reason cleveland and okc keep trying to shove him in the lineup...but it's not workin

Oh yeah. Cavs.

He was picked high because his "analytics" were insane. He had DWade like numbers. He actually moves like Wade around the court, he just cant shoot or finish at the rim![]()
Yea the Cavs were in panick mode..."Bron left, we have no offense nowHe was a 6th man that whole year. On Cuse squad that wasn't shyt. No clue why he was picked where he was.

." Kyrie played half of 1 season if I remember correctly, so I guess he was still a bit of a question mark then...they basically just trusted the media and coach k on that pick...it worked out tho

and ultimately they wanted another player who could score on his own.Guarantee he yelled and 1 too
AYE!Guarantee he yelled and 1 too

Basically we're saying the same thing about Kyrie...but still even though everyone was speaking so highly about him, he still didn't have a lot of actual work put in on the national level for cleveland to go by. I'm sure in off season play, highschool etc he showed his stuff but considering his age and lack of time in college Cleveland was still takin a bit of a chance. I think Dione was a safety valve, like in case this young buck (Kyrie) doesn't perform up to standard right away(maybe the injury starts to nag, maybe the bright lights get to him...whatever) we're getting a trusted offensive option in Dione that we have been able to see that can hold it down if the kid doesn't shake out right away. I believe that's why Dione and Kyrie had friction, because they (those in the organization) probably let on to Dione that he was the more experienced between the two early on, so naturally Dione wanted to lead at times..,but Kyrie was born to have the rock in his handsNo, scouts were saying Kyrie had the potential to be the best guard the league has seen in 20 years. Scouts were saying he was a wizard with the ball, and some of the stuff he did with it just made their jaws drop and he could be as good or better than Iverson. He was goin #1 and it wasn't even close. The media was pushin them to pick Derrick Williams and Brandon Knight at #1 and #4. Also, Kyrie had a historically good rookie season.
The Dion pick was a head scratcher. It was the GM tryin to be smarter than everyone else. Byron Scott said he liked Dions confidence and ability to beat his man off the dribble. He wanted 2 players in his back court that could do that. The other prospects that were in play at 4 was Robinson, Drummond, Lillard, and Barnes. Barnes got exposed his 2nd year at UNC because he couldnt beat anyone off the dribble and for a rebuilding team they could not trust him to be a 2nd option for Kyrie goin forward. They didnt pick Robinson because they picked TT the year before. I actually heard they were leaning towards Lillard to try a Kyrie/Lillard back court experiment, but idk why they didnt go through with it. I don't think we know why they didnt pick Drummond tho. Mabye with Lebron in mind 4 years down the road they didnt want to risk him bein a gigantic bust
I think ultimately the pick was because they thought of all the players available, Dion had the most potential to become an all-star based on his advanced stats. They were hella wrong tho.
. Drummond isn't a great pick still IMO...he works out great for a team like Golden State(run n gun, sort of a big man presence), but once u get into playoff ball with bigs being emphasized he's a bit of a liability...plus Bron is him x1000 in size presence and ability...cleveland wanted nothing to do with a Bron reject at that time...they were trying to change the team to a back court centered offense.
