Basically we're saying the same thing about Kyrie...but still even though everyone was speaking so highly about him, he still didn't have a lot of actual work put in on the national level for cleveland to go by. I'm sure in off season play, highschool etc he showed his stuff but considering his age and lack of time in college Cleveland was still takin a bit of a chance. I think Dione was a safety valve, like in case this young buck (Kyrie) doesn't perform up to standard right away(maybe the injury starts to nag, maybe the bright lights get to him...whatever) we're getting a trusted offensive option in Dione that we have been able to see that can hold it down if the kid doesn't shake out right away. I believe that's why Dione and Kyrie had friction, because they (those in the organization) probably let on to Dione that he was the more experienced between the two early on, so naturally Dione wanted to lead at times..,but Kyrie was born to have the rock in his hands:troll:. Drummond isn't a great pick still IMO...he works out great for a team like Golden State(run n gun, sort of a big man presence), but once u get into playoff ball with bigs being emphasized he's a bit of a liability...plus Bron is him x1000 in size presence and ability...cleveland wanted nothing to do with a Bron reject at that time...they were trying to change the team to a back court centered offense.

btw... Williams and Knight played all year and were talked about, Kyrie was covered extensively by the media as he sat sidelined...media was on his bandwagon heavy

Before & after Kyrie's foot injury in college he was still considered the number one overall. I'm forever happy the Cavs didn't look at the track record of Duke players and only focused on Kyrie's pedigree.

Well, even when Kyrie played in college he showed out. I mean he had that game vs Michigan St. where he dropped like 30 n shyt. Everyone pretty much knew if the kid could stay healthy he would be a stud at the next level. Pickin him with his injuries is always a risk, but they weren't in vital areas and they were cuz of freak accidents. It wasnt like a Joel Embiid situation.

Dion wasn't picked for Kyrie insurance i can guarantee ya that. Kyrie was fantastic his rookie season, and you could tell he would have a break out 2nd year or 3rd year like Lebron did. He was takin over games in the 4th his rookie year and hittin game winners. I think Dion was picked cuz they envisioned the Isaiah Thomas/ Joe Dumars backcourt, and Dion could beat anyone 1 on 1. Dion just thought he was better than Kyrie, and didn't like that Ky was gettin all the shine. He is too hot headed and complained of Ky and TT playin "buddy ball." He wouldn't accept his role as 2nd fiddle, and so their was friction.

Word, Dione was a year later...I see what you're saying bout Kyrie rookie year(lot of these drafts blur together for me), I honestly didn't follow cleveland again until Kyrie showed out in that all star game, but I do remember him bustin knight down in the sophomore freshman game that year as a sophomore so yea he was a year ahead...but even still I think they gave Dione some legit leadership role because ky's age and Diones full two years in college(probably just trying to up his confidence so he could fill a starting roll)...evidently ish went to his head tho. Yea Isaiah and Joe is exactly what they wanted but Joe was FAR more consistent:snoop:.

yea that was part of the problem. Dion is older than Kyrie. its difficult for Kyrie to learn how to lead when you got players like dion who are older than you, who think they are better than you and think you have to listen to them. TBH i loved dions confidence comin into the league. I remember in like his 3rd or 4th game him and Kyrie combined for somethin like 48 points against the clippers and won. He was playin off the ball to Kyries main ball handling hittin 3 pointers and gettin points in transition. He was straight up taunting the Clippers bench. :russ: That game was like a glimpse from the future at the time. Unfortunately, that was like the best game they ever played together and then kyrie got injured shortly after.

Yea something's in sport just aren't meant to be...like my Cinci Bengals lettin Joe Montana with around a minute left drive the length of the entire field to take away a superbowl in 88(I'm dating myself:wow:I was a lil tyke in all fairness tho))there's a lot of "what could've been" in sport. Bron showed up and suddenly touches shrank, I honestly think Bron had to make the decision for the organization about waiters that Irving didn't have the respect to yet to get. Starters are starters and supporters are supporters...know ya roll:yeshrug:
