he was on the 3rd team

my point is that Dirk was seen as the better player back then. Steve Nash has a before returning to Phoenix and after returning Phoenix placemark in his career. Dirk was on a HOF trajectory from his 2nd season onward, independent of Nash.

I understand people are dikk riding Dirk because they beat the Heat but Dirk was seen as a soft player until about 06... His career didn't start the year they won the title... He has many and plenty of blunders pre 2011... People seem to want to ignore that though.. Also I'm not sure about him being on a HOF trajectory in his second season... Sounds good though

Dirk Nowitzki gets too much credit, as is.

Say what you want about him, but Mark Cuban was able to hide Nowitzki's blatant flaws as a player for years (never had to play defense, never had to be a shot blocker, never had to be a good rebounder, didn't have to get a post game until the majority of his career was over, etc.)

get outta here
Is he lying? You don't remember the way people talked about Dirk after they lost that series to the Warriors? After they let the Heat come back from a 2-0 deficit? Pretty much his whole career until 2011 (when they won the title then Dirk came back out of shape the next season, and the team never did shyt again afterwards)?

Nobody got more out of winning a title from a fan's perspective than Dirk Nowitzki did (Hakeem as well, but they won two).

Breh, you're an idiot and you don't know basketball. I don't know if I can break this down simple enough for your stupid ass to understand. I think you might legit be slow.

Nash was a 30 year old 2 time all star when he left Dallas. He was never looked at as an MVP until he played for dantoni. Don't you think Dallas would have kept him if he was seen as an MVP caliber player? Fukk is wrong with your dumb ass?

Why would you compare that to harden?

You too stupid for me to go back and forth with so don't even reply
To be fair, Bill Walton was pushing Nash as an MVP candidate while he was still in Dallas. He also got votes for MVP in 2002 and 2003 (no first place obviously).

Cool. Dirk is one of the best playoff performers from 2000s as well.

You all love narratives.

As he should be (he was one of the best players of the 2000s). That doesn't stop him from being overrated.

Dirk gets MUCH more than enough credit for what he accomplished. You have people arguing him as the second best PF of all-time (behind Duncan). I mean, he was great, but :stopitslime:

Peja stojakovic
Sam cassell
Andre kirilenko
Jamal mashburn

Also got votes during that time

Nash was NOT a superstar or a mvp contender

Nash had 1 point in votes. Thats not a typo, literally one point.
1st place had 962
2nd had 871
3rd had 496

Bringinf up his 1 vote is misleading to people who werent actually watching basketball during that time period.

Norfeast groovin…
Emotional and irrational post.:mjlol: Stay salty my friend. :umad:

Nah, I think the only emotional and irrational one is you. You just seen Dirk score 30,000 and now you in your feelings because people ain't give enough credit during the Nash years like they weren't doing shyt. Then you got irrational tryna attack nikkaz when everyone gave Dirk his props but also acknowledge that the Nash years weren't as meaningful as his post-Nash years. Dirk won an MVP after Nash, Dirk won a ring//finals MVP after Nash, either you ain't rational cuz you ain't watch those Dirk/Nash/Finley teams or you emotional and all worked up over their stellar job of being a guaranteed 2nd round exit. No worries though, you a good poster but this was a shytty thread breh.

Real shyt. I don't know how people forgot this shyt. This isn't even to say that Dirk wasnt considered a great player but he wasnt in the post like that he was way more on the jump shooting. Dirk always kept the Mavs in it cuz he's a great player but he still kept coming up short. He ain't take that L to the 8th seed in his MVP season just because, he ain't lose to the heats with Shaq/Wade just because. He won that ring once he became a real post threat on top of being an elite shooter. GOAT international player, top 3 at his position in his era, HOFer, all true but lets not act like one ring erases the past....:russ:
