One thing about that Mavs team......

NOBODY picked them to repeat.....I mean like nobody.....everybody knew that shyt was just one hot run.

The Lakers were gassed from their third straight trip to the finals, OKC was still too young, and Bron....well that nikka just choked.

But my point is it was a perfect situation for that team to win.

Perfect situation was the Warriors first "title" with all the injuries. The Mavs just played great team ball and had an all-time player at his absolute apex before the fall.

Current narrative is that Wade wasn't in is prime during that run, he was physically broken down and a shell of his former self that could only muster flashes of greatness, but needed to be carried to the finals by Bron.

Not saying that's how it was, just that it's how Wade is talked about in retrospect by some :hubie:
Wade carried that team to the 2 wins they did get. If the Heat win, Wade is the finals MVP

yeah his playoff run was incredible. shyt, i remember dirk sonning the shyt out of bosh over and over again in the 4th quarters of those finals.

the mavs supporting cast were balling out too. don't forget rick carlisle though. dude deserves his props as well. he had game plans and schemes and shyt that had the other squads looking like :damn:

it really all came together perfectly for dallas in those playoffs.

yeah other than Dirk ballin out, Carlisle prolly saw something out of the box, like

"Hey, 5'5'' Barea, don't be afraid to post up Lebron, you got it. You too flabby Kidd'':mjlol:

"Don't worry LeLoss can't guard you JJ":mjlol:

4th quarter:

''Hey this is our time, Lebron has 6 points, so he's only gonna score 2 more. We're good":mjlol:

ehh.

Cuban didn't break anything up. he simply couldn't afford to keep all those guys.

it was a rental team, designed to make a sneak run for the chip, and that's exactly what they did.

cant be mad at Cuban. you gotta congratulate him, if anything.
I honestly don't remember the contract situation but it just seems like Cuban believed that the team had gotten lucky like some people were saying. I legit believe that was a great team and they should have tried to at least keep their core and come back the next year. Instead they go from winning a championship to coming back with a weak roster that got killed by OKC in 2012. Stupid if you ask me.

The Mavs had 2... or 3 if you want to be technical

Last time the Pistons beat the Bulls, 1989-1990, the Pistons had three all stars and Daly was the All Star Head Coach. Bulls had one all star.

When the Mavs won in 2010-2011, the Mavs had one all star and the Heat had three all stars!

:mjlol:

Jason Terry better than Wade?!?

Tyson Chandler better than Bosh?!?!?

Y'all ninjas really trying to argue this

You act like MJ wasn't sonned for 3 straight years by the Pistons who had only one star player:skip:. That nikka had to get another Superstar to beat an older version of them:mjlol:. Kobe got sonned by Dirk also:dead:.

LEBRON GOT OUTPLAYED BY JASON TERRY...

WHO OUTPLAYED JORDAN ON THE PISTONS?

exactly.

but let these casual star-f*ckers tell it, dirk was carrying a bunch of bums.

Miami would've killed to have a Tyson chandler. not just that year, but all 4 years of their big 3 era.

especially 2011. yea they had the big 3, but their team was still incomplete. ESPECIALLY down low.

the mavs were built to beat the heat that year.

darn near every player on that team was a starter in years recent to 2011.

shoot, you had a guy in corey brewer who didn't even dress half the time he was there, but he started on the squads he was on directly before & after the mavs, iirc. he prolly only got tick in the playoffs because caron butler got hurt.

the team was stocked full of vets who were recent starters, or even former all-stars as somebody already noted.
