The context I'm using is a lot of kids, especially in the suburbs wouldn't even know how to act like a gangster if not for tv or music or movies. I knew plenty of people who went about their business not letting the outside influence them but those that do let the outside influence them are susceptible to pretty much anything, especially when you have kids seeking acceptance, they'll latch on to anything. I saw this 1st hand doing youth coaching in basketball. Kids, especially ones that feel like they're missing something will try just about anything to fill a void.
