They really need to depict the hero's journey in TV shows and films in a way that resonates with Gen Z males, especially those who read a lot of shonen manga. Much of the manga that young Gen Z males enjoy is centered around the hero's journey. I'm not sure why big film and TV studios are having such a hard time creating stories based on this concept.:jbhmm:

True. When you look at the top anime and manga of the past few years... demon slayer, solo leveling, jujustu kaisen, my hero academia, kaiju no8, etc... many have the same basic blueprint: (1) your typical every day (or below average) joe with more heart than ability (2) has an event that fast tracks him from afterthought to chosen one (3) but also puts him at conflict with new-found companions (4) and makes him the target of the big bad he ultimately has to defeat to complete his journey.

And while ths journey typically includes a strong female companion or two, once the mc gets in his bag he'll be on another level in power, ability, and capability than her (along with most everyone else). It's basically a gradually progressing power fantasy with life lessons where, when done right, is the most gratifying journey for a young breh. Obviously some shows like Solo Leveling end up fukkin it up by OD'in on the power scaling lol

Also unsurprising that the most popular american animation aimed at young men of the past 10 years (Miles Morales, Spider-Verse) followed the same blueprint. In retrospect and using that same narrative lens, you could tell Dragon Ball Z was obviously centered on Gohan (not Goku) even if the creator had never spoke on it after the fact.

Guys being dudes: the series.

And I'm serious. Just have some dudes doing cool stuff and have them get girls. Current popular streamers have the template (RDC, Kai, Duke, iShowSpeed) just amplify it. It's that simple.
If you spend hours watching other people live their life instead of living yours and you think that's good content that says more about you then the state of media. A lot of them are suffering from arrested development and need to grow up. There is nuance in life just like there is in content. Everything that doesn't align with your perspective is not woke lol

One word. Atlantis

Only live action remake that actually makes sense :skip:

Something familiar yet still novel, and it can be easily expanded upon for more movies and media

Expensive as hell to produce, yeah. But Disney ain't pressed for cash. Plus, I could see it do well so long as they don't fukk it up with a shyt script and effects

Disney fukked up try to transition every male hero into female heros. I liked Force Awakens but you could tell where things were going with Last Jedi with the mostly female leadership bashing the pilot and sidelining Finn.

With Marvel you basically have them shifting focus in their movies to female heroes since phase four. And usually the ones that make money are the male lead movies like Spider-Man and Guardians 3.

Now there's nothing wrong with female lead hero films. Look at the first Wonder Woman and even Captain Marvel did well even tho it was mid. But no one wants to see movies where the male heroes are always apologizing and female heroes are just powerful Mary sues.

The Miles Morles movies are the perfect balance between a young male hero on his journey with a young female hero on the same journey.

These execs spent so long fighting for equality in entertainment that they've turned every gender off by going overboard.

The problem they have is they had franchises for boys and men, but they took that audience for granted and tried to "expand" by attempting to cater to women in those franchises. They did it with Star Wars, Marvel, and decades earlier Cars.

They have tens of franchises aimed squarely at girls/women, and those are extremely successful. But that wasnt enough, they had to try and get the girls into the male focused franchises as well and ended up trashing them.

The thing about males is you need the right material, AND IT HAS TO BE GOOD. Men dont like wasting money on bullshyt. So once we see the quality has dropped we not paying all that money to hit the theater. Disney fukked up twofold because they tried to cater to women and they product was trash. So men bounced hard!

:russ:this isn't true for men or women and you know it's not.
