I was thinking this same thing after passing it. The only game I’ve seen pull this off where my decisions felt like it meant something was Detroit Become Human.many of the choices is this game seem like they don't change anything. The plot mostly plays out the same regardless of what you do. The Blonde Blazer romance was a given option but the game was designed for you to romance Invisigal. The only major plot divergence centers on her and after the first few episodes Blonde Blazer is somewhat sidelined until the very end
I get this is a smaller game with a limited scope but I can't help but think it would have been better suited as a TV series with a set plot. The game is pretty short and some things feel forced to happen with the party coming together not properly happening on screen. I didn't feel like the Dispatch sections were a good sub for showing the team building chemistry and coming together. Chase didn't seem to interact with them much but they got really upset at Invisigal over him and wanted her out
Seems like the only major changes are who you romance and the fate of Shroud and Invisigal in the end I don't think you can catastrophicly fail and lose
The Witcher 3 kinda does it but choice in a video game is very difficult to pull off. Mass Effect 3 really convinced me of that as it was high budget and they still mostly abandoned trying to make choice matter.I was thinking this same thing after passing it. I thought Mass Effect 2 for the last mission pulled it off well. Overall, I agree, it’s definitely complicated to pull this off. Overall I enjoyed it and would cop if a sequel dropped. The Witcher 3 kinda does it but choice in a video game is very difficult to pull off. Mass Effect 2 was an amazing game but it was also pretty much a filler title. It didn't advance the plot of the overall series all that much and seemed like they just made it up as they went.I thought Mass Effect 2 for the last mission pulled it off well. No your choices barely matter because it would drastically expand the scope of the game if they had wildly diverging paths. They'd have to write new scenes, record dialog, and code it all. They have to account for all these characters who may or may not be present. This was a $30 game. It can't have all that and if it was $70 people might shy away. They did what they had to do.dudes chatting about what’s canon and what’s the best ending it’s like… bruh this is why they barely make your choices matter in the game cause yall stay trying to figure out whats the true path and what’s canon. Some of yall would be writing angry letters if they didn’t include that true hero bullshyt at the end. One of the weirdest most obvious contradictions from gamers tbh.
anyway, this shyt was fire. Solid 8/10. The dispatch minigame was cool but kinda arbitrary. Like why did the puck move a little bit on some missions and the do some ice hockey shyt on others. I wasn’t fukking with that. Just felt like busywork at some points, but it was a nice change of pace. they gotta make it more skill based if they do a sequel, and give you more options to boost your characters.
the women actually looked like they were from Cali. Having the Oakland shawty with hella cakes and grass fed barefoot white women was refreshing. I’m not hearing the “better story than Invincible” talk. It did handle intimate conversations between characters a bit better, but Invincible shyts all over this. Ain’t enough meat on the bone here, and a lot of it was just plugging them into a predictable formula. Fav character was my nikka Chase. When he said “that big b*stard was crying in the bathroom i’m tryna take a shyt” had me dying lmaooo.
All in all, would be nice to get a Season 2, if not oh well. Solid piece of entertainment that leaves you hopeful for the future of episodic interactive games.
Just finished the first 2 myself...they really got something here. Almost fukked up at Granny's because I got too into the actionplayed the first 2 episodes this morning. the writing is top notch...it gives me Wolf Among Us vibes.

so what was the last $70 that had choices that mattered. it’s not exactly common. & it’s cap cause the game already has some decent branching paths for the ending. and even so, it doesn’t have to just be one reason. some gamers are definitely part of the problem instead of the solution. I bet when they focus tested people were looking for the true path and how to make the best choices.. I mean I hear this literally all the time. Gamers never happy being stuck with choices or having to confront that they made a bad one compared to someone else. That’s why u hear all this golden ending nonsense. No your choices barely matter because it would drastically expand the scope of the game if they had wildly diverging paths. .had to let the credits run till the end
