Nope. NYC has very defined pockets but not much diversity imo.

Crown Heights- Caribbean and some Africans
Harlem-Dominicans and some Africans
BX/LES-Ricans

No East Africans, not many Africans in general (Nigerians for example), and the African American community has moved South.

DC, ATL, Houston THEN NYC. I heard Boston was big too.
Southeast Queens (Jamaica, Laurelton, Rosedale, etc.) has Jamaicans, Haitians, Trinidadians, Guyanese, and even some Africans. I'm pretty sure there are a good amount of Ghanians in the Bronx. There aren't too many East Africans in the city but I'm sure you can find them.

NYC just isn't like that.

What makes Atlanta unique is the diasporas aren't pockets. Nigerians, African Americans, Afro-Latinos, etc all live in the same communities. Black communities in DC and NYC are segregated.

Plus NYC has no Black Americans anymore :mindblown:

I grew up in Brooklyn, and one of the things I missed the most was being around my carribean bredren dem.

Atlanta has a pretty large Jamaican population. When I go out I run into at least a couple weekly out here.

Met a lot of African cats too...good friends with cats from Nigeria and Tanzania

One of the baddest broads I ever did see was from Ghana. She ain't give me the ass though

Ghanaian women might be the most beautiful on the whole continent

yeah West Indians actually outnumber them by far, it seems like. But I wouldn't say that NYC is necessarily segregated amongst blacks, unless you count Ricans and Dominicans.

just doing some research. Atlanta is the black mecca and is a diverse city but how diverse is its black population? for example NYC metro has a lot of West Indians and Black Hispanics and DC metro has a lot of Africans

so in Atlanta (and its suburbs), is there a diverse population of blacks or is it mostly "African-Americans". also do black Hispanics, West Indians, Haitians, Africans etc tend to live in separate neighborhoods?
Atlanta has pretty much all the black ethnicities you mentioned and NO there is no segregation.

Most of the caribbean community live in the Stone Mountain or Lawrenceville area but in reality they are well spread all over. I dont jnow a single haitian in Atlanta that has other haitians in their subdivisions so people are well spread out. I know a lot of africans live in Duluth/Gwinett area but they are from various countries and spread all over.

You typically wouldnt think ATL has such a huge caribbean community until you go to a Caribbean artist concert or Caribbean Carnival.

im going to guess you don't live in the NYC area, Harlem is still predominantly African American, you have Dominicans in Manhattan, the Bronx, PRs in every boro, Haitian in Southeastern Queens, Long Island, NJ, Anglophone West Indians throughout central BK, Jamaicans in the northern Bronx, Guyanese in Queens. plus AAs are still the majority population in Brownsville, East New York, BedStuy. you also have a rising Ghanian population (i think the biggest Ghanaian-American community in the Bronx and in Newark area

NYC has 2 million blacks within city limits, thats greater than the whole population of Atlanta AND DC put together

Just come down here and i'll show you.

The thing is the african-american community in Atlanta is all over the metro area. Other blacks that move here just find a spot and stick to it. You dont have to live next door to your peoples to still be part of the community. If i want some Haitian food I have to drive either 29 miles to Marietta or 22 miles to Lawrenceville. And it's not that these areas have entire neighborhoods that are mostly one nationality.

I live in Alpharetta and I rarely come across any haitians up here. Other than this doctor i know and tis chick that works at the Krogers down the street i have yet to meet any others. The other caribbean people i know or even see and identified as caribbean in the area are this thick chick ive been trying to fukk who is from the Virgin Islands and this other dude who is from Turks and Caikos that i see jogging by sometimes. Outside of that i alwayshave an ear out for people when im out to see if i come across other caribbean folks but they are rare up here

Edit: There is also a older jamaican lady that lives in the subdivision across from me. When i say older i mean like 40s really.

it's like that in New York too

In Jamaica Queens, for instance, you'll find American blacks, Jamaicans, Haitians, Trinidadians, Guyanese all in the same area. And you can find blacks everywhere except for maybe Northeast Queens and the filthy rich cac parts of Manhattan. Long Island and Westchester also have a lot of blacks although it's more segregated.

I see blacks from NY complaining about gentrification and the whitening of Brooklyn yet iwhen i drove around BK last month all i see was black people and few whites here and there.

As much as we (blacks) like to think we are in great numbers in this country we are still less than 17% of the population and thats counting AA's and all blacks of other origins such as african and caribbean. Whites and white latinos are still over +67% so i can never understand how black people expect to go anywhere in the united states and not be around whites. It just doesnt make sense to me with those numbers.

Yeah I have to agree with this. I'm pretty sure the city is as black as it ever was, so where are they getting pushed out to?

No clue. I dont know NY that well. Perhaps the NYers on this board can elaborate. Usually when i go to NY it's work related and i stay in hotels so im limited in my interactions with NYers up there except for my fam when i stop by to see them on my way.

Perhaps users like @KologeroBx , @NY's #1 Draft Pick and ther others can shime in

I stay in New York for a a couple weeks every year (Brownsville or South Jamaica usually) but I've never noticed any sort of cac invasion in black neighborhoods.
