i feel like if burn one didnt get any sort of up front cash at all, he mighta dropped the ball, asap and his team mighta been broke, but that whole tape and video and promo run didnt come together for literally 0 dollars. someone got paid something, somewhere. even if it was like 100 bucks or paid in zips

i do get the frustration about giving someone a beat for free and hoping theyll pay it forward and bring you along when shyt starts to crank

but thats what you get for putting your faith in someone in a cutthroat industry i guess?

make sure to learn from it, but unless your paperwork is airtight, you cant be mad about not getting paid off a free mixtape that ended up popping off

Why don't producers make it to where if the song is released on a mixtape, they will get compensated from the show money? Before the rapper gets on the track, make sure the contract is signed.

The only issues is to prove the song was performed, but I'm sure you can make it to where the song list performed for each show can be photocopied or maybe make sure the dj has his song list saved. I know using pioneer recordbox(I think), it saves the songs performed that night and uploads it to a site. I have to go look what software it is exactly, but it is out there.

If the song is streamed, they should get paid anyway, if their paper is together

If a rapper can sign bullshyt contracts just to get on, they can sign something like this to get the beats that help them get seen in the first place.
