Also cant forget about Double R aka DJ Ray....I always thought that he would be what Clue became even tho Ron G was shining brighter during the time. It was Double R and DJ Juice( J. U. Ice ice ice) during Ron Gs reign.....I personally thought Double R was better then Ron G....This was also around the time Kid Capri had stepped his game up and was djing on Def Comedy Jam. First time I ever saw Kid Capri was when his first tape on Cold Chilling came out....I remember being hyped over that tape before listening to it to the point I was showing it off to my mom.

Yeah..I agree this was the last time Clue really shined his brightest...Kay Slays Street Sweepers would soon dominate the mixtape scene doing what Clue was doing but every week(sometimes twice a week)...

I fukkING HATE KAY SLAY MIXTAPES

clue had all these dope little adlibs and the qauitly was either good dub or cd quality

kay slay sounds like he record them shyts in the lincolon tunnel during rush hour ..

Green Lantern had a moment as well around the same time Big Mike was doing his thing. I remember when Kay Slay and Mike were cool one minute then Kay Slay one day said he slapped Big Mike from one end of the street to the next and Big Mike soon faded to irrelevance in NYC.

Doo Wop had the Bounce Squad with PMS and Snagglepuss. I always said that Canibus was the new version of Snagglepuss because they shined the brightest on mixtapes but never could transistion that shine to actual records. Snagglepuss was that dude who you couldnt wait till his verse came on because he always had the guaranteed quotable just like Canibus when he was on a track with others. First time I ever saw Uneek from PMS was on that Big Kap song "Ladies In The House" I remember thinking "Ok she sounded like she might be ugly but she the baddest looking one....She's badder then lauryn"
Remember when Slay use to get at Splash and Cutmaster C? And yea, Uneek was a cute lil redbone

LOL....I remember when Kay Slay slapped Puggie P at the Justo Mixtape awards. I had that footage on tape courtesy of Ralph Mcdaniels....SMH for losing that tape somewhere. I remember when the rumor was circulating that Slay slapped Clue. I didnt like that. I didnt wanna believe that. I hated how Clue went from this mystery mixtape king with the exclusives in the 90's to being portraid as some sorta herb by the early 2000's. I still say they did ol boy foul in that Rocafella DVD......They shouldnt have made Clue look like that....It took away from his repuation...especially when he was bleeding. Props to Kay Slay for squasing their beef later down the line tho.

LOL @ forgetting that Whoo Kid was popping around the same time Kay Slay was on the come up. Whoo Kids sh*t was quality in the year 2000......and whenever you saw a Whoo Kid/Kay Slay collabo :whew:.....You knew it was an official must have. That stamp was awarded to the likes of 50 Cent, DipSet and Saigon.

LOL....Real talk...I've had offical Clue CDs...DJ Envy CD's.....and J Love CD's.....But every Kay Slay mixtape I ever encountered was bootleg. There was this spot on 3rd ave that used to have the officials and whenever I asked for a kay Slay he said they run out quick so I was always stuck with the bootlegs. I always wondered was the poor quality due to it being bootleg or is the official CD just as bad??

Whoo Kid definitely had a run with the G-Unit tapes. But I digged his pre G-Unit tapes like the Murda Mixtape series with Stretch Armstrong. Also I remember copping his Escape From NY tape that Nas hosted right about a month or 2 before Stillmatic dropped

they were probably all poor sound quality. the downside of him dropping tapes every week or so.
