His music aint the type of shyt you ride around and enjoy ya day and vibe too like some currensy......its str8 go dumb, get faded, fukk lyrics in the club music.....it serve its purpose....but his sound too copy and paste now.....no versatility....at the same time u gotta blame the artists too, cause im sure mustard got different soundin beats in his hard drive but erry artist prolly ask for the "SOUND"

i get that it's popular, i just think it sucks. i can think of many club bangers i like that were actually good. this guys sound just isn't special in any way whatsoever. i do NOT get the appeal at all

lil jons shyt in the club went 10x harder...

people used to go ape shyt when some mannie fresh shyt would come on (back dat azz up)

off the top of my head some stuff i heard in the strip club/club/bar that people liked
gucci mane - guwop nikka
2 chainz - riot
2 chainz - spend it
yo gotti - got dat sack

then of course if you wanna go back a few more years the mannie fresh/lil jon/timbaland will always get people up

:obama: I fukk with those songs. Riot was a very underrated song during its time imo. Seems like you're just not a fan of the Mustard sound. Fair enough. Is it the simplicity of it? The repetition?

its the repetition i think. like that RIP song, all my friends fukked with it, but after maybe hearing it twice it was just too much. jeezy kinda went in though

i still bump riot til this day though, beat is hard

I havent heard 1 sound flood mainstream radio like this since Pharrell & Chad in the early 2000's. Every other song begins with that "mustard on the beat" drop

Ummmmmm no breh.
Neptunes were running radio, the charts and getting sales (the most important) all at the same time. Mustard has the ratchet sector on lock and more mainstream artists havent flocked to him like they did when the Neptunes were pulling NSYNC, Janet, Mariah, Britney, etc.

the funny part is 2 knockoffs (Fancy, Loyal) were the 2 biggest hits

I liked a lot of stuff from Mustard in 12 and 13, hate his new stuff. hopefully this sound dies out soon, really boring

musically, the thing about the songs is they are catchy b/c the average music fans ear is attracted to simple circular melodies, not to mention they are instantly recognizable.

10 years ago when everyone was starting to make beats, you'd get laughed at for making a beat like his. But once an artist gets on it and makes a real song, now it's "dope"

:what:

:camby:

The Neptunes
Timbaland
Jermaine Dupri
Kanye West
Scott Storch
Lil' Jon
Swizz Beatz

^^^ All had one or multiple runs >>>>>> DJ Mustard. To top it off, they all had bigger hits than Mustard. Throw T-Minus (even though he's retired, but still), Mike Will, and possibly even 40 into the mix as well if we're talking about the current crop of producers.
