dj quik always gets the dr. dre "jr" treatment, but where does he really rank among dre, rza, premo?

He’s not in a tier with RZA, premier and dre, and tbh he’s not even close to that tier.

I’ll die on that hill.

Does he have any actual hard beats? Or is it all that goofy funk shyt?

I think Quik might be the most overrated producer of the 90s, but if someone can put me on to some actual hard shyt, I’ll be happy to eat my words

I think Daz is a better producer tbh.

You must have never heard Safe and Sound if you think Daz is better

I truly believe everyone in this realm has a talent. Mine just happens to be helping others find theirs and then showing them how they can hit a target they never even envisioned.

With Quik I see the whole world sitting up like "WTF? Where the hell has this cat been?" as the rise from the decades they spent sleeping on him and it all starts with the Quikstrumentals and the way they're presented. Not only have I heard them but I've seen the sessions and its so beautiful because it sparks up a hip hop renaissance that broadens its horizons outside of the cell its been placed in by corporates.

Quik (or his team) is you're reading this then lets make it happen as its not just possible but probable once I share the blueprint of how to put it into action because having the pieces is one thing, its how you order them that makes the difference between Shakespeare and mere news print, ya dig?

Ok I would really like to see a battle between Quik and Daz

That is interesting

Norfeast groovin…
Yeah, his label situation and gang/family fukkery made it hard for him to keep up with his contemporaries but you saw what he was able to do when he was in the right spaces. A lot of those Death Row classics sound as good as they do because of Quik’s engineering touch.

Life is results oriented so unfortunately at best he’ll be recognized as an unsung genius in the game but he didn’t have the same impact as his contemporaries. Not that that indicates skills but it does go a long way in the recognition of said skills.

I don’t think they can do this

Link doesn’t work. Search yt for Quik’s Groove playlist and enjoy

I think you're forgetting Easy Mo Bee was approached & did a whole album with the late great Miles Davis. That alone puts him in a category by himself:

While Quik is nice, he's not on the same level as those greats I listed bro. We'll definitely have to agree to disagree

Easy Moe Bee doesn’t have the discography of Quik especially when it comes to producing whole albums. Easy is hella underrated though, friend.

Daz beats fell off a cliff after the 90s.
He produced one of my favorite albums in Dogg Food and one of my favorite Death Row related beats in

But it seems his best production was either mixed by Dre (Dogg Food) or Quik (Ambitionz AzA Ridah/Skandalouz).

Quik >>>>>>>>Dat Nikka Daz

Not even close, friend.

He did most of RTD bro. That alone put him in front of Quik & anyting he's done lol. He did songs & made major hits with Big & Pac while they were living as well. How familiar are you with Easy Mo Bee's catalogue & who he did songs for bro?
