What’s frustrating about this thread is that Quik’s actual work is being underrated now. Quik has shyt that musically shyts all over Chronic, 2001, Doggystyle, etc. his problem was never talent.

Quik’s issue is that again, he didn’t put on the legends Dre put on, he didn’t have the same success on the business side, he’s been more unstable in comparison, and he chose to veer deeper into an experimental regionalism with his sound instead of either switching to a genre that works better for him or broadening his sound to loop in more listeners and challenge his musical abilities.

I always said King Kunta sounds like a Quik beat, All Eyez on Me, possibly.....Home Alone is Quik all day.......... the others tho? Nahhh

King Kunta is essentially Mausberg - Get Nekkid, which Quik produced in 99/2000

King Kunta interpolated "Get Nekkid" and IIRC Quik got proper publishing credit for that track.

Safe + Sound needs to be talked about among the best West Coast Rap albums of all time.

I been saying for YEARS that Quik could put out instrumentals and market them as like jazz/adult contemporary and it would prolly open up a whole other lane for producers.

He'd make a killing going in that lane. A good place to start would be to release instrumental versions of "Safe + Sound", "Rhythm-al-ism" and "Balance & Options".
