As far as producers is concerned he deserves to be mentioned with the Pete Rock's, Marley Marl's, and DJ Premiers of the world. He samples so many tracks and layers each element really meticulously. It's like you hear a Spinna production, you know what it is immediately. But he really cemented a signature sound in the mid/late 90s to early 2000s underground hip-hop scene. Not to mention producing for Jigmastas and Polyrhythm Addicts as well as De La Soul, Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch, and Busta Rhymes.

Still producing some of the best hip-hop today. Moreso Spinna been focusing on playing house music recently (he plays alot in NYC and has nightly residencies), another reason I respect the dude. Like Kenny Dope Gonzales and Armand Van Helden who dabbled in both hip-hop and house.
This was the first Spinna joint I ever heard. I'd only heard Little Brother over 9th Wonder, Khrysis, and Nicolay, so it threw for a loop but it was so groovy. :wow:

He and Phonte also did a dope Dilla tribute

DOPE ass thread and props cuz I been on a Spinna kick and revisit heavy since last week when I threw on the Superrappin Vol. 1 album to close out my summer throwbacks. Network Reps were on it which is another crew I had forgot about and remembered they were on one of my top 3 favorite Spinna produced joints.

:banderas:

I hadn't heard this gem in years, can't believe I forgot about it.

Then I got back on my L-Fudge shyt and heard "What If?" which was one of my summer college favs '98, another Spinna joint I completely forgot about.

He's always been in my top 10 and my pick for most slept on producer of all time. I don't ever hear his name brought up in top producer discussions and the man's work is amazing.

Most of my other favs of his have already been posted (Take Me Home by Polyrhythm Addicts is probably my favorite Spinna produced song. Neck and neck with that and the J-Live Braggin Writes Remix).

But two more of his that I've always loved. This jewel by Pharoahe Monche. Never heard it played anywhere, I just randomly came across it vinyl shopping years ago and had to cop it. Man, I miss them late 90s early 2000s backpacker record store days :mjcry:

another banger remix from mid-2000s

And for any brehs with Apple Music, Spinna has a radio show on there called Here To There Radio. Exquisitely curated mixes. Every once in while he has the artists tell the backstories within the mixes, the George Benson one was good
