Vlad is absolutely right. And if y'all can't see it, we listen to hip hop very differently. Notice he's the only one who actually explains why Illmatic is way better (hunger and honesty) while Charlec00n pretends to be a hip hop fan, and says dumb shyt like "Hate Me Now".

Nas is my favorite rapper ever. His only classic is Illmatic. It's clear as day. He's had a lot of classic songs since then, but no classic albums. Lost Tapes is the 2nd best album in his discog and has classic tracks but as a whole isn't classic.

Ironically, if you add all the classic unreleased and studio released songs together, Nas has the best beat selection/discog in rap history.

I can see y nikkas in the booth can't stand u :francis:

I've never gave a fukk about what it means when some cornball says what is or isn't a great album.. if an album has hot songs on it that's all that matters. Fukk the "great album" "good album" shyt. It's just a way for writers to get paid and act like they got something to say. Nas' catalog runs mad deep with ill individual tracks. Fukk the other shyt

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
:dahell:?Jay said it and alotta nikkas agreed with it at the time.

You forgot the part about "Two of them shyts doo,one was meeeh:patrice:,the other was Illmatic, that's a one hot album every 10 year average":banderas:

In Vlads defense he actually used the word "great" and not good, and I think he's the term great meaning classic.....I would give Nas two classic albums....Charlegmane pretending "I Am" was the shyt is just as ridiculous, and I liked God Son more than most people, but classic:childplease:?
Jay said out his own mouth he ain't believe the shyt he said on that track. So there's that.

Mostly shytty production. Corny ego.

Did you watch the video?

What haters?
So u just spewing the bullshyt Vlad said. Vlad also said Thriller was a double album. A fukkin 9 track album. One of the best albums in the history of black music. ONE of if not THE most popular album in the world. nikka don't even know the track listing. But if we mentioned a Bob Dylan album or some shyt. He would know it front to back. This is supposed to be a cat who was JUST arguing about Thriller vs Off The Wall. But the bytch ass nikka don't even know the albums he's arguing about. The same one who forces Eminem in every GOAT conversation. This is the cat u cosign. He didn't make any good points. He's full of shyt. And he's a vulture.

nas has one universal classical if you want to be honest. He is one of the greats regardless but i got say he has had one of the most disappointing catalogues for an artist with his skill level. As a fan I will say his first two. For an album to be a true classic it has to be critically and commercially acclaimed. Like bigs LAD album. Just because you like it doesn't make it a classic album. I personally enjoyed I am for what it was, a dope mainstream hiphop album with a little something for everybody. It was a good commercial album that I still enjoy to this day but its no classic. Either is lost tapes for that matter. Which is very dope but it had no impact on the culture and hiphop landscape. It didnt break any grounds or set any trends like illmatic.

neither did "tetsuo and youth". neither did "reasonable doubt" prior to jay-z selling 5 million with Vol 2. Neither did OB4CL2. Neither did "Liquid Swords". Neither did madd other albums. i agree with you somewhat that being a groundbreaking, change the game type of jawn definitely plays a part in something being considered "classic" but that can't be the only criterion, the actual songs being dope as fukk has to have the biggest say if something is classic, timeless and dope ass music. there's madd albums that get stamped "classic" by internet nikkas that were barely 4 mics to me, but they had impact and made big noise and sold a lot, that aint all it takes bro. perfect example is "get rich or die tryin". huge insane impact, changed the rap landscape, completely dominated the culture, rave reviews, madd trends set, etc... musically, that shyt was a 4 mic album at best. staying in queens, i think Banks "Rotten Apple" is way closer to a classic than a lot of shyt yall deem classic, but it never gets mentioned because magazines and media and blogs didn't beat it in your head that you must think this is a classic masterpiece

Jay said out his own mouth he ain't believe the shyt he said on that track. So there's that.

Never heard him say it,wouldnt mind seeing it if you got the receipts, but what he supposed to say after they became cool,"Yeah I thought I am and Nastradamus was wack as shyt like most people:sas1:"

If Jay didn't believe it,he knew many did which is why it was effective:banderas:

So the point remains Jay not only said it,but he wasn't the only one thinking it,so rather he believed it or not personally is irrelevant.

I remember that, in the interview with Nas and Jay with Sway. He basically said he just said things to try and get people to latch on to in terms of perception but he didn't feel like that.

Nah breh Get Rich Or DIe trying was classic at least at the time,i agree it hasn't aged well like alot of the shyt from the early 2000's era:scust:...And was Rotten APple Banks debut or second album,if it was the second album you must be joking?I know you not saying that album is better than GRODT?The debut wasn't fukking with GRODT either btw,but the second album:mindblown:?

You don't think theres some albums you had to be there for too understand why it was classic, some albums had a mood around it,some changed the landscape at a time when it was necessary:wow:
