NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
And I still have better taste than you, which is a fukking disgrace.

Look homie, I have friends who heard Illmatic before the vast majority of NY heard the shyt. I even have a friend from NY who interned at Columbia back in those days.

I don't think you affected posters realize just how close Toronto is to New York. I know a Toronto OG who would get advance cassettes on all hip hop albums from US record companies a year before release. And there were a couple others in that position, too.

Which leads up to 2016 with us running hip hop. So before you pop off at the mouth, sit the fukk down and recognize.

Toronto's East Coast

and

Late has everything to do with your mindset and not your location. Just because you're born in New York doesn't mean you innately know hip hop or know it better than a kid in Scotland (sadly enough).
No u don't have better taste than me. And this is why people don't fukk wit u on here. It's not that u have different opinions. It's that u have different opinions that u legitimately think are BETTER than everyone else. And nikka I could give a fukk about ya friend. I personally know legends in this game. nikkas who u prolly look up 2. U nikkas running Hip Hop with a fukkin fraud rapper named Drake who dont write his rhymes and who else? fukkin Tory Lanez? Who else y'all nikkas got? Name another successful Canadian rapper running hip hop. fukk outta here my nikka. And honestly real talk I thought u was from UK.

Nah. U shiftin. U said commercial. When there's songs on IWW far darker in tone. IWW is NOT Illmatic. It didn't have to be. Songs like The Message. I Gave You Power. Watch Dem nikkas. Take It In Blood. Shootouts. Suspect. Silent Murder. Live nikka Rap. Etc. NONE of that shyt was commercial sounding. Couple of them joints was produced by Havoc. I don't see nikkas shyttin on The Infamous.

If Illmatic never existed, I would probably agree, but the sudden stylistic jump from debut cant be ignored, illmatic sounded like a independent tape that could of been handed to you off the corner, iww was none of that, it sounded like your typical industry tape, just nas is a semi talented guy so he was still able to shine like he did before but the album was still compromised by him trying to play both angles and not commiting to one. If your just an emcee, you cant play the field like that, only that knayes and drakes can get away with it

It wasn't a jump if u followed his career up until that point. It was a natural progression and an extention to what he was doin for 2 year prior. U want that nikka to keep making albums that "heads" bootlegged and didn't even appreciate where it counted. The nikka didn't get the SUPPORT he needed to keep goin that route. Got snubbed by the very publication that gave him his 5 mics. And the people all on dikk didn't go cop his album and support him with their wallets. They went and supported the more commercial soundin nikka. Biggie. And the source gave the more commercial soundin nikka both album of the year and lyricist of the year. Even tho in their own magazine he got a higher mic score than Biggie. Yet. He should've kept goin that route and not be where he is today. One of the FEW hip hop artists to have a career at this point in his life.

man fukk outta here, trying to make this into a moral dilemmna, if he was in it for the money then dude shouldve gotten a degree and a stable 9 to 5.
Music is an art, if you cant take risk and grind properly then maybe it isnt for you but taking the easy route and throwing away your integrity and trying to pimp the genre for a quick cash in is the reason the genre the state its in currently.

The first rap album you bought was Harlem World and you heard Illmatic how many years later after it was released? 7 or 9? (Even though you're like in your mid - late 30's). Whatever it was, what your so called "friends" had and when is irrelevant, you didn't and that's what we're talking about.

only commercial tracks were juicy and big poppa, and they were singles, understandable. Remove them from the tracklist and the album still stands
LAD was the stage where it wasnt just the singles, but his entire style started to become comprised and watered down, so if you want to point fingers than theres your culprit

You wish.

It's not that u have different opinions. It's that u have different opinions that u legitimately think are BETTER than everyone else.

Actually, you stalkers are the ones that put my opinion on a pedestal.

I make some comment and I got affected souls quoting me outta the blue.

You strike me like the kinda cat that hears some stupid shyt and just runs with it because someone said so. Point proven.

Name another successful Canadian rapper running hip hop. fukk outta here my nikka.
