Vlad didn't come up in the NYC mixtape scene. He moved there in the 2000s when the mixtape scene was just a few years from tapering out. He was a computer programmer prior to that. You're talking like he really has stripes or something. You could wipe his entire mixtape discography off the face of the earth and literally nothing would change.
doesnt change the fact that he's been grinding for a long time.

His history is a lot longer than most of the people putting out hip hop related news/gossip/info

I love this song..

It deserves to be acknowledged as one of the greatest displays of lyricism ever.
"they tellin you ya state of mind, like you worthless"

:mjcry:
I always thought this was an Illmatic demo, but, he does call himself Escobar on it

It's crazy this was supposed to be on IWW

Lupe Fiasco sounds so much like the son of '95 Nas

Vlad is right, and that is how most people feel who came up before the bar was so lowered. Illmatic is his only classic. Stillmatic was elevated because of Ether/Blueprint being a classic. It Was Written has a lot of wackness on there and that Escobar shyt was corny. But in this day and age Chief Keef is a legend :heh:

Take it In Blood- lyrically top 2-3 nas best track.

nah

Nas was rambling on that.

The message - def nas best storytelling song

nah

what story was he telling? Great song though.

I gave u Power-1 of the greatest concept record in hiphop period

nah. Is it really that novel when Organized Konfusion did something similar two years before?

And even if it were, I don't listen to "concepts." I listen to music.

Street Dreams- def a banger

eh. song's cool but he's got tons of better songs.

If I Rule The World- with lauryn hill :stopitslime:

Never liked this song. It's such a step back for Nas. Reheating Whodini leftovers for a typical 95 NY radio sound.

Song isn't all the way terrible (especially by modern standards), but cmon breh -- do you really catch a high listening to this shyt compared to Nas Is Like? or Memory Lane? or Made You Look?

If I Ruled The World sounds like a limp joke compared to those joints.

Black Girl Lost- :mindblown:

:russell: RnB beat

I never listen to this song.

Watch Dem nikkas- those rhymes & how he masterfully interwoven street tales (shoot out, suspect, live nikka rap)with his introspective raps...N u call urself a nas fan? :mindblown:

Nas is way more than just rhymes. I think y'all conveniently forget this.

His voice is A1 and his beat selection at times is A1. Illmatic is an album full of A1 beats. So when a dude like Nas debuts spitting A1 shyt on A1 beats, then starts spitting A2 shyt on C grade beats (Watch Dem nikkas), I'm not a fan because I'm disappointed? :rudy:

How dare u say its a major step down when half of the rappers in the industry callin it his masterpiece..got rap catz from roc Merciano, Lupe, Joe Budden, Sean Price etc...callin it his best album ahead of Illmatic..:rudy:

how much of a follower are you?

Nikka do u even believe half of that shyt u post? :pachaha:

I've come into terms u just post shyt to get a rise of outta ppl & certain posters:sas2:

whatever works for you breh :umad:

License to Ill the best album on Def Jam? Really nikka? Not even in the 80s. U see how much respect he has for LL and Run DMC to make a bullshyt statement like that. Again. This fukkin "DJ" just stated that Thriller is a double album. A fukkin 9 song album. The biggest album in black history. Yet I'm supposed to respect his opinions on music? It's not about him being a white boy. If @hexagram23 had a show on hip hop I would watch it over a fukkin DJ Vlad.

run dmc was never signed to def jam breh.
w/ that said, licensed to ill is easily a top 5 def jam release. arguably top 3.

ehh. thriller is the biggest album in history period. I don't see how that's a black/white issue.

Like I was saying. NOONE in the history of the genre gets it as bad as Nas. Nas gets criticized for shyt other artists get praised for.

that's cuz nas flip-flops.

and stands on a soapbox with his flip-flops.

vlad lookin extra-white & extra goofy.

but how you know that's a tranny?

Does Nas have a classic album people disregard because he starred in Belly? if not Cube gets it waaaay worse:pachaha:,at least Nas gets plenty of accolades to go along with any hate.
