I don’t post here like I used too, and I’ve moved to Atlanta but I grew up in the DMV...

I remember everything Kwame is saying as it happened, it really made me objective on how I assess Mike (Jordan) too.

I remember sitting with some close friends last spring when “The Last Dance” dropped on Netflix, and being the only brother in the room like..... nahhhhhhhh, it’s way more to the story than this lol...

None of what’s going on right now is surprising, it feels like chickens coming to roost.

Nah, not a surprise.

The Last Dance was a Jordan Brand marketing. It was fun, but you can’t take a lot of what was in there serious.

And Jordan was very abusive to Kwame Brown. Kwame is a victim of bullying, even if he won’t admit to it. The stories were written about the mistreatment, but the Wilbon-types in the media would call it “tough love.”

It’s wild interfacing with people who didn’t follow his Washington years, or did follow and chose to forget it lol

hired as the director of player personnel in 99-00

works with Wes Unseld and really does a average/below average job of acquiring players.

Watching “The Last Dance” I learned he always felt like he could do better than his CHI front office that built championship teams.. in reality, I watched him suck at the job.

Then he comes back in 01, and hand picks Doug Collins, and on the surface looks like he selects Kwame or had a role in the decision to select Kwame? What sticks out the most is how bad he was at putting together those Bullets teams from 99-03.

According to Etan Thomas, Mike came back with the intentions to win lol...

Why Kwame and not Pau Gasol? I get that he dominated Eddie Curry and Tyson Chandler in pre-draft workouts but did he dominate Pau?

Why trade prime Rip for Jerry Stackhouse?

Drafted Jared Jeffries and Juan Dixon lol

I know he’s universally loved and worshiped, and that won’t change but he’s far from perfect. His Wizard years are very interesting, and a documentary on those years will be dope.

I played sports and I’m not bytch so...

I really don’t care if MJ called Kwame all the faggits in the the world.

Keep this soft energy away from sports.

Kwame was a bust. Move along.

Bro.. I’m not mad at this perspective.. This is surface level though, with all the facts that are coming out though, he was clearly setup to fail.

What kind of bust is he?

if he was drafted at 10 or 15 he’s not a bust..

so now I’m looking at who drafted him and why

Nobody drafts someone with the number one pick and sets them up to fail.

The setup to fail was playing for the Wizards org in the first place after not playing college ball. And I’m from DC and watched Kwame’s entire career in real time.

I love him defending himself. And I like him taking SAS down a peg. But that’s where I draw the line.

He hung around the league for years. Longer than a lot of other guys. It is what it is in terms of his athletic contributions.

kwame already said why. Jordan got him with the intentions of trading him for Elton brand but the owner blocked it and he was PISSED. He took it out on kwame

All facts

you didn’t want to unpack why that front office was trash though.. and who had all the power during those years

Mike also owns a huge piece of this

bro.. even beyond Kwame

kwame was the first overall pick in 01

Anything MJ helped build between late 99-03 was trash...

Owns a piece of what? Lol

Who’s to say he wouldn’t have washed out the league in his first 5 years without the tough love he got?

the entire makeup of those teams he built from director of player personnel, to his years as player coach/GM.

T nes
Hubert Davis
Bobby Simmons
Christian Latener

man, I could go on and on...

if you watch the Etan Thomas pod, they all agree Mike came back to win..

Do you think he lacked self awareness and didn’t realize how much the game passed him by?

No. Jordan went to a struggling franchise and was past his prime. A better run franchise would have had different results or never allowed him control over player personnel in the first place.

Players might feel differently. Role players might feel differently.

And yes, obviously Jordan is not a good evaluator of talent. Like a lot of owners.

I mentioned this before when people were talking about Lonzo being a bust. If Jordan doesn't draft Kwame number 1 are we saying he's a bust? Is it his fault that Jordan reached(for whatever reason)? And it's not like he didn't stay in the league for a while. Instead of calling these players a bust, we really should start holding teams accountable for being poor at evaluating and developing talent.

Wes Unseld was still running the day to day executive stuff when MJ came out of retirement.

Apparently Wes asked every player in like 2003 if they’d want to chip in to get MJ a retirement gift and every player refused. Wes knew then how poisoned the locker room was and explains why Abe Polin reneged on his agreements with MJ

MJ probably becomes Wizards owner in 2010 or becomes biggest minority owner with Ted Leonsis if things were different
