Breaking your own rules, DNC? What are you so embarrassed about? Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://tytnetwork.com/go

"Ellison called on Democrats to support Perez.
"It's my honor to serve this party under the chairmanship of Tom Perez," he said.

The results brought a chaotic close to a race that stretched on for three months. In the waning days, former Vice President Joe Biden and several aides to former President Barack Obama -- including Valerie Jarrett and David Simas -- made calls to undecided members in an effort to sway them toward Perez.

In Ellison's camp, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and supportive members of Congress applied pressure on DNC members with phone calls.

The behind-the-scenes calls underscored why the race was broadly seen as a proxy battle between the Sanders-aligned progressive wing of the party, which supported Ellison, and those more closely connected with Hillary Clinton and Obama, who largely backed Perez.

By selecting Perez -- and again spurning Sanders supporters -- Democrats risk the backlash that could come with leaving the left wing of the party disappointed a second time in the past year.”*

I wanted Ellison, but I think it's a viable and beneficial move to have Ellison as Perez's deputy chair, similar to my belief that Clinton should have selected Sanders as VP. The most important goal to me, is simply regaining some control in 2018, and getting the new Admin out in 2020. The Dems don't need to spiral into a civil war over progressive vs centrist, they need to undo the atrocity that it snaking it's way across the country.

Exactly...everyone who's against Trump needs to be united.

Sign the petition at DNC Chair Race Transparency

The DNC changed the rules for less transparency. Cenk Uygur and John Iadarola, hosts of The Young Turks, discuss. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://tytnetwork.com/go

"Chairman Tom Perez and Secretary Jason Rae:
We petition that the Democratic National Committee immediately release, in accordance with the DNC’s own bylaws*, the list of the DNC members and whom they voted for in the race for all leadership positions of the DNC on all rounds of balloting. These DNC members represent their states and are accountable to their state parties, and all of the individual members and voters of the Democratic party.

Transparency is a basic principle of a democratic political party. For a party whose very name is “Democrats”, this lack of transparency is a glaring hypocrisy which needs to be corrected immediately. This is especially important at a pivotal time when the Democratic Party is under scrutiny for lack of oversight of their processes. The entire leadership election was to address needs to reform how the party functions.

While the recorded public ballots were not released between ballot votes, as designed, it is imperative that the DNC release these records immediately to the public. Democratic voters and constituents deserve to know how their elected DNC members voted in the leadership races that occurred on February 25, 2017.
Sincerely,

Constituents of the Democratic Party

*in that ballots are prohibited from being secret and must be recorded and released during the vote”*

True progressives forever got that fighting spirit. :lawd:
Democrats about to get that work in 2018 and 2020 if they don't bow down to what the people want. :ahh:

And you'll get fukked by republicans. :ehh:
Is that really gonna be the case? I've noticed it's NeoLiberals & Obama/Clinton supporters who whine the hardest about Trump. I don't see Progressives, Bernie Sanders supporters, & true Leftists whining as hard.

If conservatives continue to vote at the clip they do and everyone else votes/doesn't vote the same as the last election then you'll end up with more conservatives victories in elections. The hyper liberal/progressives who would rather not fall in line, abstain, or protest vote will always be beholden to the populous that does. As it stands now -- republicans. So yes, if 2018 comes around and you still have people running the 'entitled voter' angle you should expect their lives to be worse. Demographically speaking the average Sanders supporter was young, single, and making under 50k a year. that demographic will surely be hurt more.
