So there were absolutely no black slaves transported to the UK from Africa, like at all? There absolutely no black Brit’s who can chase their lineage hundreds of years back to slave labor IN the UK? And that ALL descendants of slaves in the UK are from the colonies in the Caribbean? Just so we’re clear on this.

There were but miniscule. I'm sure if you were to ask around you could trace someone who has black ancestry dating that far back. Chances are they are now likely classified as white.

Reading through this thread makes me realise that there's a lot of ignorance about the diaspora.

Brehs not knowing how slavery was done in the South America and the Caribbean. Or the skirmishes between various Africans and their colonizers.

Look at Andre in that thumbnail. Man I'm getting old.

Proper legend looks like a Baby 😄

Most of us that have British Surnames trace it back to a British Overseas Territory

Do u know how small the island of UK is?
Slaves that were here were mainly domestic or merchants as pointed out prior. There were no major plantations (that I know) factory workers yes.

Like the posters above me said this is basically it

The british government first invited Jamaicans to the UK in 1948 which is less that 100 years ago.

The oldest black person born in the UK would be 77 at most right now. We haven’t been here that long

The coli the dumbest mafukkas EVER. Gah dammm

OP kinda didn't clarify his question but there was CLEARLY an OLDER, BRITISH Black population before the Windrush Generation and/or recent African immigration.

1555 - A group of African people are brought to Britain to learn English so they can act as interpreters for English traders.

1672 - The Royal African Company is created in England to manage the slave trade.

1700s The population of black and Asian slaves, servants and seamen increases.

1760s - 20,000 black people live in Britain, including up to 15,000 in London. Black people are often shown and written about as less than human.

1765 - The campaign for the freedom of slaves begins in Britain.

1772 - A decline in slavery begins in England.

1775-1783 - African American slave soldiers who fought for Britain in the American Revolutionary War arrive in London but have no money and are forced to beg on the streets.

1792-1815 - Black soldiers and seamen settle in London after fighting in the Napoleonic Wars.

1833 - The Slavery Abolition Act becomes law in Britain.

[The “Black Poor” was a name that was given to the Black residents in London during the late eighteenth century, and as the term was used, it also applied to destitute whites. The community consisted predominantly of men who were brought to London in the Atlantic slave trade and had increased significantly with the arrival of Africans and African Americans who had fled to the British during the War of Independence of the thirteen colonies in North America. The Black Poor were not numerous; however, they were hyper-visible. Most of the Black Poor lived in poverty in East End parishes or in Marylebone and Seven Dials.
