Men and women face the same issues when it comes attractiveness and desirability. Colorism definite affects men as well but men won't dare complain about it openly. Women take it more to heart when they are not desired. plus men get used to rejection early on in life, we roll with it or do something about it. A decent amount of colorism issue probably has to do with not being desired by non-blacks. There are definitely black men out there that will reject a woman for being too dark but those are extreme minority. Most black men find attractive black women attractive regardless of their complexion. When you really pay attention a lot of colorism talk from black women is centered around how non-black men view them.

Honestly as a dark breh, colorism isn't that big of a deal.

In my single days, being darker seemed like a slight disadvantage with Latinas/Asians but a big advantage with white women and a slight/moderate advantage with sistas.

Light skinned AND Dark skinned brehs have no issues finding their lane. People assume you're more dangerous when you're dark and people assume you're softer when light. There are advantages and disadvantages to both scenarios.

I think it's a bigger deal with sistas. Really attractive darker skinned sistas will attract lots of white dudes, especially Europeans. Attractive light skinned sistas seem to attract a lot of brehs that want light skin without the guilt of going full Becky. These the nikkas that talk all that "pro Black" shyt but won't date a woman that fails the paper bag test....and can't see the hypocrisy in their stance.

As a dark skin breh I was made fun of mercilessly when I was a little kid by other kids and adults alike. Most of my family is light skin so I always felt like the black sheep of the family (no pun) . My experience was not good and there's no way to sugar coat it. I grew up with a huge chip on my shoulder.

I use to be convinced being dark put me at an automatic disadvantage when it came to women so my confidence was low.
However, looking back I've never really had a problem attracting females. Any issue I had with females was due to a lack of confidence. When I started lifting weights and gaining confidence in myself in high school/college girls came a dime a dozen.

I've always gravitated towards light skin women/bi-racials because they showed me the most love. I think black women automatically assume I'm colorist because I'm dark skin and my past gf's.

The only situation in which I think colorism for black men plays a large factor is online dating. But online dating is shytty for most men regardless of race/color. If you're attractive, dress nice, and carry yourself well I can't imagine any of these women turning you down in irl. What single woman in her right mind is turning down an attractive breh who smells good and dresses well?

Oooh the family thing makes sense. My whole fam is dark except my moms....but she's more African (by blood) than anyone.

We barely had any light skinned kids at school and the ones we did have, mostly had white mommas. They usually fit in with Blacks. The few that had white dads/Black moms tended to hang with the whites.

Brown skinned nikkas started the most shyt, clowning on dark AND light skinned....and the dark skinned nikkas nearly always whooped their azz when push came to shove. Light skint brehs just got their payback by fukking the finest sistas :russ:

I was looking through r/blackladies :snoop: .... I knew this Sudanese breh that was purple Black, made Lance Gross look like Michael Ealy but he never seemed to c00n or Divest. Nikka didn't display any signs of self hate. Even Akon, Bill Duke, T-Pain, you don't see them even mention colorism as much compared to even brown skinned Black women.

Is it the beauty industry?
Is it light skinned women?
Is it Celebrities?

:jbhmm:

Because ain't no nikka turning down this, unless he a stone cold fakkit...

Accusing Colorism is turning into a scapegoat to justify dating CACs...

All beautiful women but they now can claim colorism to justify dating Brad. They ALWAYS wanted Brad.

Just noticed the girl in the third pic:whoo::banderas:

Men and women react differently due to societal social and beauty standards, especially in the United States, where this country's inception, colorism has always been a thing.

A woman's beauty has always been judged more than a man's; the Black woman's appearance has always been under attack more than Black men's due to a combination of sexism and racism.

Welp.

Most won’t say it, but that’s the attitude most dark skinned women encounter.
Hmm I’m not dark skin…

But the coli praises every dark skin woman no matter if she’s actually cute or not 🤷‍♂️ I thought dark skin ppl got a lot of love.

Pop the balloon they always say, “you too light skin” towards men and women :yeshrug:
