Being dark is like living life in "Hard" mode.

Sh!t is not easy. I really wish things were different.

:damn:

Yep, there is still very much a "color class system" in today's world.

I was about to limit to just America or even Western Society, but who are we kidding?

Now are there things that dark skinned males can do to overcome their (perceived) weakness? Definitely. Dark skinned women can do the same but the hill is definitely steeper.

If black people are the worst of the bunch (according to racists and people who uphold a similar hierarchy as mentioned earlier), then are dark skinned black people the worst of the worst?

Nah. I think it's just other dudes that think that. I've heard so many redbones and latinas that say they prefer dark skin men. See the thing is, women likes a man who can instill fear in their heart and others around them. They want someone who can protect them and basically be their night in shining armour. Not saying lightskin dudes cant provide that, i'm just saying when people think of scary dudes, hood dues, killers, they think of some adebisi nikka :manny: They may not like em at first sight(some) but they'll come around. My uncle was one of the darkest dudes I know, and he stay with bytches. That nikka is so fukking respected on my island its crazy. And girls like that.

These days, almost all the black male sex symbols are light/mixed or at the very least not dark. Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Wiz Khalifa, Michael Ealy, Will Smith, Drake and Boris Kodjoe are the names you hear the most when women talk about "good looking" black men (no homo). Idris Elba is the only dark skinned brotha who gets that kind of attention in the media.

I'm not sure how relevant my personal experiences are being that I'm in Canada but from my own experience and observations of other blacks skin tone doesn't play much of a factor.

But those guys are still obscure compared to Drake, Chris Brown, Trey Songz etc. There's only Honsou if we're talking mainstream. It's really weird, a few years ago 90% of black dudes getting dap in mainstream media were dark or brown (Nick Cannon, Mekhi Phifer, Usher, 50, Beckford, Honsou etc.) but since this "swag" shyt kicked off in 2010, being rail thin, tatted up and light is what's in. No homo.

That's just whos making music, if you want to know what's 'in' for looks, you look at fashion/modeling. again, which consists of darker skin men.

:what: Are you joking? I'm about the same complexion as dude in the pic and I consider myself to be dark skinned. What is dark skinned to you?

I guess he meant dark like this:

This is true. But Wiz Khalifah isnt a sex symbol. :scusthov:

As far as music goes, all the famous and relevant male R&B singers are light skinned. I wouldn't use male models as an example because most young black women (who the op is talking about I'm assuming) do not care about male models.

I think he meant society, but regardless, imo Trey Songz ain't light skinned. Again music is music, it's not like they just randomly picked them because they're light, they just so happened to be whats poppin musically atm.

Frank Ocean was 2012s hottest rnb singer.

I really ain't know how to take that, I still hit it but that shyt (along with some other shyt she said) definitely changed the way I look at her

But is Trey as dark as the other two guys I posted? And yes Frank Ocean is famous now but he's the only relevant dark skinned R&B singer out right now.

:childplease:

He's dark skinned. Just because he don't look like he came straight out of Nubia doesn't mean he's not dark skinned.

Eve (rapper) is caramel.

I'm quite sure that wasn't the complexion the OP was referring to. And in the black community that is not considered dark skinned. Yes he is brown but he isnt dark. Will he get made fun of for being too black, burnt, crispy or other derogatory terms? No. But I forgot this is the internet where everyone is oblivious to sh*t. :stopitslime:

And are you trying to say Eve is dark skinned?

Sh*t like this is pretty much subjective anyway.

Are you retarded? :usure:

I clearly said that Eve is an example of a caramel complexion (she even said it one of her damn songs way back when).

Caramel =/= dark skinned.
