Graphics dont bother me that much. The only era that I cringe at is the 1st 3D era (psx, n64 etc.). I can play any gen before or after but w/ that gen I have to REALLY like the game.

But when you pull off some shiit like in the above post… you can have all my money. I might not even like playing it, but I’m definitely booting it up panning and zooming the shiit out the camera just to see every detail.

Favorite game last year was Visions of Mana.

This year I’ve been playing Final Fantasy XI the most on my Steam Devk.

Artwork and character design matter more to me. I honestly think those two things that are the most important thing to me for video games. Character design additionally means things like abilities.

I'm more of an artwork person. Take me to fantasical worlds, straight out of someone's imagination. Sure, realism and graphics are cool and once in a while, I'll stop and go wtf is this wizardry with graphics but truthfully, I want to be transported to a far off wonderful world.

It matters to an extent. Art style can do a lot even if the graphics aren't high end. Mario, Zelda & Persona as examples. Would say presentation is more important than graphics. Of course, poor art style and graphics shouldn't be justified like I see people defending Pokémon which their games are ugly even by Nintendo standards.

Gameplay is king tho. Of course, story also plays a part in this too. Of course, the best-case scenario is something like Elden Ring which has top tier graphics, presentation and gameplay. Not everything needs to be that because

I think perfomance and a clean image matter most.

We are at the point where most devs can make a game look good.

I just don’t like playing a game that looks/feels dusty/blurry/choppy :scust:

That’s a Metroid Prime Remastered description if I ever heard one.

I want it all. Bad image quality ruins almost anything. Zelda, Metaphor and other cel shaded games with low resolutions and blurry textures are crap to look at.

and good animations. Sometimes games will look good but you can tell they got some bad UE5 template that just makes everyhting look really lifeless and boring.

that Mindseye trailer always reminds me of a game going for a “prestige” AAA look that just looks very uninspired

It's a great plus, but I still dabble in a lot of Retro Style games at the same time, so it really doesn't make a difference to me.
As long as it's fun and has a great narrative, I'm good.
