24K Magic is a 90s RnB throwback album...and it's okay...it's technically sound and everything and 24K Magic is a karaoke song that will be sung everywhere for years to come...

I think Bruno Mars makes music hat he knows the masses will enjoy

There is nothing risky or revealing or "artistic" about his music...

Compared that to Kendrick Lamar who is more of an artist and more willing to bear his soul and shyt...

It just depends on, as a voter what you willing to go for...

The guy that is technically sound and makes shyt for all demographics and has been at the top of pop craft going on almost a decade...

Or the guy that makes grand narratives and bares his soul in his art...

Bruno got alotta talent, but he just takes black music and cheeses it up for white consumers...

The weeknd’s music is actually innovative.

You seem to be flip flopping as to why Beyoncé lost and Bruno won, when it’s essentially the same situation this year as it was in 2015. Everything you said about Bruno’s album practically applied to Bey’s self-titled.

So, I need you to further elaborate.

Sometimes that can happen at the Grammys though, particularly when votes are split. It makes way for a dark horse candidate to win.

I remember back in the day Steely Dan won over Eminem. Most people didn’t even know who Steely Dan was. Only reason I’d heard of them is because my mom used to play one of their songs all the time during my early childhood. But most people were like “Who the f-ck is Steely Dan?” Another example is that one year Herbie Hancock came out of nowhere to beat Kanye for AOTY.

Also, I’m guessing a lot of Grammy voters are older and traditional, slightly out of touch and not exactly avant-garde, so of course more traditional albums seem to triumph. Adele will tend to win over Beyoncé, and Taylor over Kendrick.

Also, if hip hop fans really want more recognition from the Grammys they should make sure they are adequately represented in the academy voting numbers. Low voting numbers from that group is how Macklemore won over Kendrick, which was a travesty.

I see nothing wrong with the Bruno win though. There’s much to be said about music that can make everybody feel good, that can actually get people up out of their seat. This is one of the few times the Grammys actually got it right, IMO.

That said, black people need to stop seeking Grammy validation. I stopped watching that show like ten years ago, so...

Can somebody post the most "r&b" sounding song off that Bruno album?

My personal definition of what "r&b" sounds like is different than the couple songs I've heard off if it.

”Calling All My Lovelies” is a feast for the ears of all true R&B lovers. Best song on any of the nominated albums, IMO. I STAN for it.

Meh, I'm just not feeling this as "r&b". There's just something missing.

Maybe I'm being biased because I clearly know that he's not black and my mind won't LET me hear this as r&b but it feels more pop with a hint of R&B influence

If an alien asked me what "R&B" sounds like, I would post this song:

There's a big difference to me as far as "soul".

Just my opinion.

Anybody should have won over that fukking wack ass Bruno Mars.

Despacito>>>>>that wack ass Bruno mars song.

fukk that airplanes rapper(forgot his name) for putting him on the spotlight.

I’m still hurting for when Frank Ocean lost out to Arcade Fire but at least Arcade Fire had a worthy album.

Yea I'm actually insulted that he's in the same category as Ledisi and Music Soulchild.

The whitewashing of black music is still happening right before our very eyes
