they definitely looked down on MK in the 90s, but it recently gets respect. as a kid, MK was exciting at first, but i soon began to see the graphics, animation, and characters as low class. X definitely has stepped MK's game up.

Its always been this way until MK9 came out....there was no way a SF fan was ever going to say MK belonged in the pantheon of great fighting games...

there was
Super Turbo
3rd Strike
KOF
everything else

Virtua Fighter for the purists, frame watchers...VF fans are like autistic kids who can recreate Rembrant and play Bach from memory but couldn't tell you how to change a tire. :skip:

Not anymore, the makers of Mortal Kombat worked really hard to make it a legitimated balance fighting game especially in MK9 and MK10. It's a bit combo heavy but it's still fast paced and fun.

Street Fighter is a heavily predicated on defense, frame watching and priority (though this sorta of varies from game to game).

On the real, KOF seemed to have a steeper learning curve than KOF.

Since like the 90's bruh...stats don't lie, MK has sold more. Does that mean its the best? Not for me, However I'm a more avid player of guilty gear.
Breh, no. Mortal Kombat for years was gimmicks first, then gameplay.

Those old games are damn near unplayable by today's standards. SF 2 Turbo is still a clean experience till this very day.

We look down on Street Fighter fans and all other fighter fans.

Only other fighter I'll play now a days is DEAD OR ALIVE cause shyt is fun when you high/drunk.

Low key though, MK has a bundle of classics.

MK I
MK II
MK III/UMK3
MK Trilogy
MK4/Gold
MK Sub-Zero Mythologies
MK9
MKX

:ahh:

Street Fighter, Tekken, Soul Calibur, Virtual Fighter, all suck dikk. So do their fans.

Only MK that are built for competitiveplau are UMK3, MK9, and MKX

And according to NRS, UMK3 turned out the way it did by mistake

Everything has a gimmick, Mortal Kombat had the gore, Street Fighter had fireballs. Damn near everyone in the series (back then) had a projectile. That's all people knew; Guile Spam, Ryu/Ken spam, Dhalsim Spam, E Honda Handslap spam. They didn't exactly have "combos" in the purest sense. They had to release a special edition wherein they put Supers in SF2 Turbo.

MK had a fast evolution, Boon wanted every game to include something new to the game passed Supers. From multiple fatalities in MK2, to running/combos in MK3. That last time SF had any nuance was in Alpha 3; the leveling system. That doesn't mean it sucks, it just means Capcom took less risks. And seeing as MKX is outselling SF, I would say those "gimmicks" turned out to be gameplay people have come to like.
