Do these young rappers rap off-beat on purpose or can they just not rap on beat?

That’s mostly that Detroit shyt nikkas on here swear by

Seems like amateur rapping street nikkas who didn’t write to the beat pioneered that style

Yachty was mimicking that style in that Michigan Boy tape

Some if them be off drum beat but in the melody beat. Like how rza does. Most people think rza is off beat...he doesn't rap to the drum beat how most rappers do...he raps to the melody.

I won't give most these young jits that genius tho. They just amateurs.
RZA used to cram bars I don’t think it’s that deep dude just didn’t write to the beat and was on some ima get these bars off same as G-Herbo today. RZA style just his whole enunciation, subject matter, vocabulary, flow was just off the wall.

The jazz theory has been used with Nas in the later part of his career where he was off beat

No but his voice is weird as hell.

So that brings in another question. Are we being unfair to rappers, especially these new guys because their vernacular, voices, and accents aren't what we're accustomed too? A bias?

dont post that cac account on here anymore.

and also yachty wasnt off beat to that extent

idk if it's because i make music so i get what these nikkas are doing most of the time.

the problem is everyone is too used to shyt being quantized and strict.

if you listen to yachty tape he hits the down beat (the first kick of the bar) of the bar way too much for him to be off beat 70% of the time and i doubt the cac who runs that account understands rhythm and groove.

d’angelo broke this shyt down beautifully when he was interviewed by tavis smiley. long as that 1 (downbeat) is there you can do whatever in between.

Another example.

It would go harder if he stayed on-beat the time. Why are these young cats always a little ahead of the beat?
