So if the basic education courses are the first two years, how would dude get a job with a 2 year associates degree? I'm not asking you, but the other poster who says that's a route to take.

Agreed. OP has made countless “what career should I do” threads.
It would be a waste of money and time to go to college for anything. He needs to get locked into a trade and finish it.

Also, you are NOT getting a job out the gate. You want a job immediately, become a nurse or something healthcare related.
No one is hiring a junior for anything in engineering or IT. No one wants to onboard you, period.

Yeah for the most part, the first two years are the gen eds and the classes all engineers have to take regardless of the specific major (the weed out classes).
OP - I know this is a troll post but if you're serious, ain't no way would I recommend anybody do any undergrad engineering degree online so don't waste your money. Engineering's not something you just wake up one day and do. If you're not naturally just wired that way, shyt's hard. It's doable no doubt, but hard. So if you're not trolling, think long and hard before getting into debt.
associates degree programs are different than bachelor degree programs. you might take more degree focused classes in the during that term than in the first two years at university.

I have a associates in EET and a Bachelor's... plus my PE.... ask me anything....
OP .... if you go the EET route be careful .... some places value the EET less than a plain EE ..... (i know first hand) ....
And their is NO 2 year EE degree .... EE and EET ARE NOT the same ..... EE is more theory with the EET is more hands on.
OP ... also , why EE degree? why not ME or another engineering... I'm asking because IF you wanna go in debt... at least have a valid reason. If you like EE and etc OK.. if you thinking because jobs gonna there.. then NO... you are gonna fukk up...
if you want be hand on... go to trade school and pursue a electrician's license

Like it was already said, you REALLY have to have the discipline and aptitude for engineering. Also you will be broke for the next 4 to 5 years until you graduate.
The trades field is in major need of new young blood. I know because I speak to tradesman on the jobsite. A lot of older guys are retiring, the field is wide open. You will start off with decent pay about $20/hr, learning on the job, then after about 4 years you become a journeyman making about $35/hr. Zero debt. The Electrician's I've known make $100k with zero overtime.

Honestly, online Engineering degrees aren’t bad IF they’re ABET.
ABET is what you need and one of the most vital things.
Your Engineering degree is worth a piece of paper if it doesn’t say ABET or not from Caltech, M.I.T, etc.

im absolutely thinking of other option because it feels like the Design field is being phased out

Just do it. Stop trying to overanalyze it because you'll end up staying in the doldrums.
I spoke with a recruiter already and told him I’d like to start in the Spring 2026. That gives me time to do more research as well.
