i mean take a look at your own life. 80% of us probably hate our job. and from my own personal experience a job can make ur whole life a living hell. now lets think for a second, these cats are getting PAID to play a game.most of em have absolutely no idea what its like to go to a 9-5 let alone a 9-5 that they hate or work a nightshift job. have we really wrapped our heads around this b4??:patrice: i cringe when i see the words "feel sorry for" in the same sentence as a pro athlete. im not hating or anything cuz it takes hard work to even be the last man on the bench but its a real mindblowing thing to think about considering how many ppl outchea working 80+ hrs weekly and STILL living paycheck to paycheck

That 9-5 is a lot easier than being a professional athlete. Most people dont have the dedication to be a professional athlete, if they did then they wouldnt be stuck in that shytty 9-5 cant pay the bills situation.

A lot of them same cats who say athletes have it easy cant even be bothered to pick up a book or 2 and improve their own lives. Its a lot easier to do that than get to the NBA.

Edit- I meant easier not harder

the reason i made this thread is yesterday i was flipping thru channels and i saw some montage on Rafael Nadal (evidently he jus lost in the 1st rd of some tournament). they made it seem like it was the end of the world and we should feel sorry for him. i thought about it like nikka PLEASE!! :what: dude is still a multi-millionare getting paid to play a sport that he loves and smashing dimes jus because of who he is. dude could never win a match for the rest of his career and i wouldnt feel sorry for him

A lot of us dont have the physical gifts to be an athlete brah its not the dedication. Take me for example a 5'9 hairy unathletic persian, I put in 14 hrs of studying cuz it will give a comfortable life. If I focused it on sports, it would still not allow me to be a pro. But you cant tell me if an athlete didnt try to study 14 hrs a day he couldnt be a dr.

It's a catch 22...but sorry, knowing what I know now, you could'nt pay me to play some of these pro sports like football.

I spoke about this in another thread about a talk with a guy who was a RB on the training squad for the Broncos...from what talk...I knew it wasn't worth it.

Make no mistake though...these dudes work HARD...well most of em anyway. It's a 9-5 like anything else. I honestly could not see mysef working out hard everyday, learning charts, mastering plays, watching inch by inch, and second by second of film, working on technique for endless hours etc for years.

Sounds good at first, but I could see myself hating it after a while.

Yeah so if you work as hard in your studies as athletes do to become professionals you should be able to make something of yourself. A lot of people didnt put in the effort to be successful at anything and then want to complain about how easy someone else has it, ignoring the hard work they did.

I get that shyt with the job I have. nikkas I'm in charge of talking about I have it easy and they wish they could have my job. Well what were you doing when I held down a full time job overnight doing manual labor then getting up and handling full time hours at one of the toughest engineering schools in the country? You were at home sleep, smoking, etc...

But I'm not talking about people who make it just by being 7ft tall. There aren't many Kwame Browns or Eddie Curries out there.

:wtf:

yeah working hard 9-5, waking up at 6am every day coming home like at like 6pm every mon to friday, living paycheck to paycheck, or have a little bit of savings working a job you had to go to school for 4 years maybe even more to get, is so much harder than being a professional athlete.

lol at the dedication, i understand if your mugsy bogues or something, but these guys are 6 2 and above for the most part.

this, plus I exercise for free. just look at it like this. yeah it takes a lot of skill and dedication to make it as a pro athlete, but:

  1. you get paid to be in shape and work out
  2. you're off in the summer
  3. you only work 4 days a week (in the NBA)
  4. you get a fat pension when you retire
  5. I'm sure their medical insurance copays are lower than mine
  6. guarunteed contract even if you retire or get hurt

it really is :mindblown:

some cats just happen to win the genetic lottery. Especially these 7' dudes like joel anthony who can't walk and chew gum at the same time averaging less than 1 basket a game making $5M guarunteed for the foreseeable future.

nikka, that's what TV does. No matter what they are talking about it's supposed to elicit some kind of emotion from the viewer no matter how serious or not serious the topic is. That's not Rafael's fault that's the TV editors and producers doing that. Hell I was watching a behind the music with Jessica Simpson. Now you have episodes where nikkas talk about living in poverty, dealing with addictions, losing family & friends to diseases & violence etc...They broke out the strings when this bytch started talking about how she put on a little extra weight and the media was calling her fat. :flabbynsick: That's TV's job.

Bruh its a lot of people 6'2. That doesn't guarantee you anything. And furthermore, basketball isn't the only sport out there. You think baseball players don't work hard? Football players? Golf, tennis, hockey, swimming, soccer, etc...all of that takes hard work.

Y'all think you just born able to hit well?

People get paid millions of dollars to play a piano or to pretend to be someone else. Why no complaints about that?
