Gimmicks aren't the problem. A lot of these guys & girls lack personality and charisma to pull off gimmicks. They don't carry themselves like superstars. Right now when you look at Nakamura, you see a star. There's no one on the roster like him. Jericho has reinvented himself many times to stay relevant.
This is exactly why you give them a gimmick. In TNA (I know) Manik was in main event feuds and being backed by Hogan. You take TJP out of the mask and he's just a guy in nice shoes dabbing for no reason lol.

So many others that need a character right now. Neville comes to mind.

Probably the most logical thing you've said. Manik radiated charisma even if he was just a dude going through spots. But look at TJP now, awesome theme, awesome entrance set-up, yet probably the least charismatic CW outside of Gulik or whatever his name is

It's not as much a gimmick problem as it is let them be whatever it is they are and turn up the volume

Big E is a great example of this. I was hoping for Mark Henry 2.0/Goldberg out of him based on what I saw on NXT. It might've even worked in time.

then he joined Instagram and was the new day version of Big E which seems at least more true to who he is.

And he was doing new day shtick with Kaitlin on social media years before new day even formed.

True... and this was while he was running thru about 3-4 different things on TV that weren't working.

The New Day in general extended three dudes (especially Woods) who were going thru the motions on their own. And as much as people criticized it when it started, allowin' them to go out and just crack jokes and reference different pop culture shyt made them a hit.

And in some cases, there's some MFs that no amount of turn-up will help if they don't know how to turn it up- Jack Swagger was suppose to show us another side of Jack, remember? :mjlol: Maybe Apollo has something we haven't seen yet, or Tony Nese has some kinda great sense of humor backstage... or not...

I found out on Talk is Jericho that Big E is a preacher in real life. Explains everything :dead:
