I know I'm gonna be tar'd and feathered for the last person, but hear me out about Bryson Tiller, arguably the most influential R&B artist of all time and undeniably most influential since Kellz. Like it or not, in 2025 we all hear it. :whoa:

Respect to Bryson Tiller

But you have to acknowledge its levels to this shyt:martin:

You have to pick a guy from different eras. You can’t just pick people you like. Too many artists dropped songs and albums that are as relevant now as back then for you to just settle on these four. Guess this list is for younger people though.

I get the raw singing component and there's no competition there. But in terms of advancing the sound of the genre and inspiring the next generation of r&b (overall impact)? I thought Mt. Rushmore was weighted based on who actually shaped and impacted things?

It's gonna be a tough conversation because of how people feel about the quality of his children's music and the direction he took modern r&b with Trap Soul buuuuut I just want to see people make a counterpoint based on influence over the sound of the genre. Which ultimately is what Mt Rushmore represents:manny:

He's been multiple genres throughout his carer. Off the wall was technically a disco album
He did mostly funk when he was in the jackson 5.
Dangerous was a borderline punk rock pop album.
He's not really tied to a single label
If you want to go by that logic, then that would apply to a lot of potential Mt. Rushmore additions.

This Usher?

Virtually every artist has a song or songs in there discography where they've tried to branch out. Nothing wrong with that. Ushers prime though was straight R&B. 8701, Confessions, Raymond vs Raymond. That's how all of us knew him. He's an R&B star. One of the biggest of all time.

Idk if Mike should be considered RnB though

3 of the 4 were straight up pop artists (IF that’s Bhris Brown). Kells was R&b but could crossover whenever he felt like it.

I wish white music Media knew how to differentiate. They got like every black artist who sings is R&b. It’s like calling the Backstreet Boys Alternative rock. I bet they ass can differentiate Billy Caldwell or Michael McDonald though.

I agree with this list. Like it or not all 4 of those artists got music that any generation can vibe too. Kids or teens today are not listening to Stevie Wonder or Luther vandross. Sorry.
