I really dislike this flattening of the individuality of black people like we are all ants or something that will move in the same direction on command.
Black people are individuals who have individual interests and divides among religious, cultural, economic, ethnic and social lines. Rich black people who own houses don't care about middle class black people who are struggling. Middle class black people don't care about broke black people.
Africans who are new to the country don't know how dangerous white supremacy is or when they're being used as pawns or tokens because they've spent most of their lives around other black people and this is their first time actually being a minority. Christian black people are absolutely not fukking with the shyt Hebrew Israelite or nation of Islam black people are saying, same with black people who believe in traditional Islam or Judaism.
The only way for progressive policy which affects black people and everyone else to pass and for black people to get social justice is for people to vote for policies at the local level. When people develop a taste for progressive policies from a good mayor, then they'll want that stateside and will vote for a progressive governor. That governor will allocate state funds in a smart way to get people things like more affordable housing, a program to recruit doctors from out of state so you get a doctor, a state subsidy on tuition so you can afford to go to trade school or college etc. A progressive senator can secure federal funds and then bring that back to build on the successes of your governor and your mayor.
Democrats(if they actually give a shyt about ever being in power again) should be traveling around and supporting local movements to turn districts blue and bankroll popular politicians who have good track records. Instead they're doing the bare minimum because they secretly want those trump tax cuts too. You think Nancy Pelosi or hakeem jeffries will say 'no thank you' to an additional 5Ms in their bank accounts?
