IDK bruh. Mike was too competitive to fail once he got over the Pistons hurdle

He was but history shows that the Lakers and Celtics always reloaded. No coincidence that MJ won those rings once the Celtics were decimated and and the magic got HIV.

People forget it only took the Lakers like 4 years to reload after magic retired the first time. Where as it took the Celtics much longer because they did not have any infusion of great young talent until pierce and walker. This was directly due to Bias and Lewis death.

I am saying all of this as a chicago kat and who followed MJ all his career. But in all history can't be changed and it is what it is.

You might be right..
Except, I think Magic and the Lakers were already coming apart from all their battles in the 1980s.

What cleared the way for Jordan was that the Pistons fell apart.
I guess maybe if the Celtics had Bias....the Pistons never win a title...but they'd still have been better than the Bulls.

The year magic retired the Lakers still made the first round playoffs. But the Lakers were known to reload very quickly and always have for the most part throughout history. They were also known then and even until recently by getting something out of nothing trades. The 1989 season they lose to the pistons. Kareem retires and they lose in the second round to KJ and the suns. The Lakers get Vlade and Perkins and then go back to the finals and lose to the Bulls after Worthy had to sit out game 2 or 3 with the bad ankle which he hurts in the Portland series the round before. Also Byron Scott hurts his shoulder in game two versus the bulls and goes down for the series as well.

I just can't believe that if Magic is healthy that Buss does not reload and trade for hakeem who was on the block and or barkley who was on the block in 1992. Throughtout history the Lakers almost always got their man. Usually for pennies on the dollar.

This is stupid bruh decimated my ass,The celtics lost to the pistons in the 2nd round who then were swept by the bulls in the ecf then bulls beat hiv magic johnson in the FINALS all in the same year.Celtics couldn't beat detroit and the pistons couldn't beat the bulls and then the reign started once those washed squads fell off for good in 92 cuz the cavs, knicks ended them and eventually heat, pacers, magic all came up.

You be low key discrediting jordan can't take your opinion serious about mike.

Bruh I heard magic was torching mj in the finals and pippen had to gaurd him for the rest of the series to win

- BlackieRobinson

Well in the 1st game of the 1991 finals appearance MJ guarded Magic. Pip guarded Worthy, Cartwright on Vlade, horace on Perkins and paxon on Byron Scott.

To counter this coach Dunleavy had magic work in the post. So magic would bring the ball up and MJ would press him. But Magic due to his size and strength was able to bring the ball up then start the offense and back MJ in the post. If the double came he would kick it out to Perkins (who hit the game winner in game 1) or another shooter for three. If they did not double magic would throw up the hook over MJ in the post.

So smartly after game 1 Phil Jackson placed pip on Magic and switched MJ to Worthy. Pip size and strength stopped magic from posting up much. The Bulls could play everyone straight up. Pip full court pressed magic and got some half court violations on Magic and really took the Lakers out of their half court sets. Not to mention because Worthy had a bad ankle that he hurt in the Portland series he was no threat to use his size and post up ability against MJ.

After that adjustment the series was over (Worthy and Scott went down in games 3 and 4 I believe) and that was all she wrote bulls in 5.

Brotha the league always took care of the Lakers and Celtics. Man read up on some of them garbage trades teams were giving the Lakers and Celtics.

Man the Lakers drafted James Worthy in 1982 with the first overall pick after winning the NBA finals a few weeks before....:mindblown:
