Will he live up to the hype? No, because that's impossible.

Will he be a great player? Depends on where he lands. I think he's a more situational star than people realize. He won't be a player like bron where he's instant impact dominating from the beginning. He'll be developed and groomed into one if it happens, like Giannis was. The pels fumbled an obvious superstar in zion by coddling him, load managing, etc. That should be studied going into wemby's development.

Dude said "...maybe the greatest prospect in team sports."

Yeah there's no way to live up to that hype.

You'd need Jordan, Brady and Gretzky type of accolades.

Cats are having a difficult time getting multiple rings as it is right now, with a shytload of help.

First thing's first: dude needs to put on about 40-60 lbs. of weight like Giannis to be that kind of dominant, which took about 8 years to get to. Can he do that?

Considering how the league has treated Bol Bol, I say no chance Wemby lives up to the hype :yeshrug:
Bol Bol was a nobody when he came in and it's in the open that he's still floating in the league on ability alone and doesn't care to put the work in. I'm not buying the Kareem Durant hype for Wemby but he and Bol don't have the same trajectory.

Eh, outside of giving Zion that extension before earning it, there was no real coddling. He's a 300-pound highflyer, his body type and play style are double dose of anti-durability. There was no real choice other than load management.

Using that and trying to go the opposite way for Wemby wouldn't work, again other than playing out his full rookie deal and seeing if he can develop and be counted on for 70 games instead of paying him and crossing your fingers.

The only way he won't is injuries
Victor is a can't miss in terms of talent. He won't just be ok. He will be a top player in the NBA if he's healthy
