Love
or lack thereof?

Has someone ever turned you down because on you religion, or lack thereof?

Quick story:

This chick I went to college with. We used to go out every once in a while but nothing ever came out of it. We were just friends...kinda. She had been my lab partner in some of our engineering classes and we used to chat a lot. We didnt go out very often but she would often invite me out or to her place to just chill with her and her roommate and I could tell she just liked being around me.

At first I used to wonder why she wouldnt let me hit or even have any form of intimate physical contact except for this one time we got into it in her car and i had my hand in her panties and i thought "YES this is it" then she got to a point she said to stop. Knowing how she is i knew she meant it so I stopped.

I used to think it was either because:
  • She's very religious (and i mean almost extreme religious)
  • I used to go out with her teammate (her and my exgirl played bball for our school)
  • She rarely dates, period.

So this past weekend she was in town and called me. We linked up with another friend and went to dinner. As we're talking her friend asked why we never got together. We laughed it off and changed the subject. Once her friend was gone we talked about it and shecame clean and said that she really liked me and I had all the things she liked in a man but she always felt uncomfortable with the fact that I dont go to church nor am i very spiritual.

Now I cant front, I have not been to church since November 7th 1999. I have my reasons.

unless you are planning to have kids with her it will never matter

Edit: after re-reading what you wrote instead of just the title

Yeah, a chick i was dealing with got born again...so me asking her to come by the crib after bible study on wednesday nights didnt work out so well.

So we had to wish each other well on our future endeavors

As long as both people are open-minded and judged based on actions as opposed to a belief system it shouldn't matter.

The type of woman (not talkin bout jump-offs or girls you dont take seriously) I'm attracted to is one that lives MY idea of a "religious" person, but doesn't need "God" or their pastor to tell them how to live.
In short:
does unto others as shed do onto herself
loyal/trustworthy
helps motivate me to be a better person
loving/caring to all who want and need it
open-minded while strong in her core beliefs
takes care of herself mentally, physically, and spiritually
knows shes not perfect, but strives to be better every day etc...

But I realize in the real world we gotta take tradition, family, social/community pressure into consideration so that woman is almost impossible to find. Some women truly love the religious God (or the idea of him), and I have no problem with that as long as she respects that my particular views may not be completely in line with hers.

Religion and belief systems are about personal interpretation. The same female who claims she can't be with someone who doesn't believe in her God, can also be found gettin loose in the club, having pre-marital sex with different dudes etc etc:mjpls:

Yeah, had issues with an ex that decided to become "born again" midway through the relationship and seemed to expect me to do the same. :rudy:

Didn't work out.

In any case, I don't care that much but if the chick is super religious and is gonna spend all day trying to get me to go to church, that's a no go.
