I remember when i was in the Military all the whiteboys loved this nikka. Even the ones that didn't even fukk with rap and had CD booklets full of nothing but country & metal. Could never understand the appeal or how he was able to gain such a huge cult following in the cac community...while nikkas barely knows he exists. :patrice:

I don't think it is HE that should be getting as much credit as being "independent" . . I lot of people classified as "independent" don't have financial backing, factories and someone making business moves for you all along the way

I don't really fukk with Tech's music but you're talking out your ass. I'm from the same area he is and he started out selling low budget CDs at places like 7th Heaven in KC, around the early 90's. To say he had all the shyt you're suggesting "all along the way" is false. I get that The Coli is plant crazy but c'mon with this shyt.

:heh: He "sold out " like a decade ago when he stopped trying to matter to the actual rap core and started pandering to those weirdo methed out white hillbilly ICP types...or does everybody think he's been touring bars in idaho and Iowa and Montana and sh!t 300 days out of the year out of a sheer love and respect for fly-over land cac-culture :pachaha: ...it was a business move that benefitted his career...it's a mind trip that after being claimed by that world, coming back and working with regular ole rappers is considered the "sell out" move

I don't really buy that. I mean yeah, after he noticed he had generated that following he started acknowledging and showing love to them, but I don't think he recorded Anghellic (his first major solo album) with the intent of becoming the poster child for Redneck and Juggalo rap fans. Tech is just not your typical brotha. He's genuinely a fan of shyt like Slipknot and System of a Down and horror movies. Heavy Use of that content isn't a marketing technique. At least not in the early stages. When he released his most crossover album (Gates Mixplate) and it got huge flack from his core fans is when he really started sticking to what the average white member of his fanbase wanted, but that was long after he had already gained that following

"Fragile" is a timeless song IMO but I can't fck with this dude - way too demonic....I don't understand how you can sell out when your fanbase was white from the beginning
