Do you ever choose other races in rpgs?

I don’t mean skin color, i mean dwarf, orc, elf, etc?

i can never bring myself to choose things other than human. I think the only time i chose another species is in FFXI i played as a Galka

it aint a RPG but I did often choose Gimli (mainly cause he could break orc shields) in LOTR Two Towers game

Im pretty sure you could switch between characters and upgrade em in that game

Whenever the choice is available I always go for Drow/Dark Elf or Orc, or an equivalent, traditionally antagonistic race (Qunari in DA for example)

Not really a fan of the half human, half ____ archetype though, its always the same "I dont fit in in either world " sob story.

Youre sleeping on some real good passives @Gizmo_Duck, the only decent human races I can think of are in Elder Scrolls (Redguard/Breton/Nord)

Other wise its just a real vanilla choice

I choose Elf sometimes if I go for a magic-focused build. They usually have a higher affinity for magic, get bonus stats and have more mana/mp

I usually choose human, male, and black on my first playthrough,

but then i try different combos after that to see if the npcs treat you any different or if it affects anything significant

In all seriousness tho, Orcs and Goblins >>>> Elves and Dwarves >>>> cac humans in my RPGs.

I fw them for the Shamanistic/Berserker aesthetic they have (specifically the WoW Horde, but not limited to them) especially presented as an alternative to being a full blown skinhead Viking or a dry ass Knight

I solve this problem by not really fukking with these next level nerd ass, MMPORPG ass, LARPing ass, Elf Knight Mohawk ass, Orcs n Dungeons ass games. But if I ever play a game that happens to even dabble n that shyt, I'll only pick the most humanoid class...or turn the game off.
