This is exactly why I do not spend money and I feel guilty spending money but video games to me are not pointless I enjoy playing them and they entertain me I also spend money on books but other than that I don't really spend money on anything Video Games books food and traveling

Yeah, I feel you breh, when I get my income tax even if its like 3k, I feel dirty as shyt when I buy a couple pair of shoes and drop $300, I grew up poor so it's weird to spend that much without feeling like I'm gonna be homeless next week

Its hard sometimes.....I have a perfectly functional laptop that I am typing this message on but I still had to talk myself out of pulling the trigger on a refurbished Mac on Groupon.

That money will be better spent into supplies for my startup medication delivery business.


And after a while cutting out all spending becomes a joyless pointless task. Focus on MAKING more money..Its a more edifying way to live.

No because I use the "Jar Method".


I set aside 30% of each check in a savings account designated to be spent later on something big. This is a long term thing. Maybe you buy something big every qtr of the year, OR one big thing at he end of the month.

I take another 10% of my check and put it in a play money checking account. So I have play money in the short term for little bullshyt.

40% of my check goes into my Necesseties checking account. Rent/food/car/insurance/clothing needs.

10% is invested and never spent.(IRA)

10% saved for education or personal growth expenditures.

With this method you should never feel guilty spending play money, its meant for playing.

I think what it is, for me, is that once I've accumulated a certain amount of money, I don't ever want to have less than that amount.

So spending money potentially puts me into a negative cash-flow situation for a month...

Which potentially puts me at having less than before.

I know it's stupid cause I'm basically rich.

But yea, I hate that shyt.

I can relate to both you brehs. I allocate each check and split appropriately to "cover all my bases." I like to see what I have accumulated (no much) and feel like I need to keep this going.

As someone who has been unemployed and a homeowner, a breh likes to be more than prepared.
