People in here ducking the question... we know that Wayne is probably the undisputed southern GOAT when you factor in sales, impact, and influence minus Big Boi/Andre.

But from a musical standpoint the nikka has been trash for around 7-8 years. He's had hits and plaques, but they're on duds.

nikkas like Ross have mixtapes better than Weezy's life since Carter 3. The man has fizzled out...

the issue with the discussion is some of these names mentioned will not come up unless your a big fan of southern music or keep up with it..which leaves no choice but to bring up impact and influence...:yeshrug:

He is in the southern top 10 by default..Easily...

I thought Wayne still had it till about 2-3 years ago. Sorry 4 the wait, C4, dedication 4 I thought were all pretty good. And they only disappointing in the sense that they ain't as good as Wayne shyt from 04-10, not bad music in general.

Let me ask you .....what mixtape/cd you think was when Wayne started going downhill?

I can't dispute any of that.

I'm going to catch fire from this, but Wayne's decline started with the Carter 3.

Now don't get me wrong :whoa: C3 was a blockbuster album full of hits, classic Weezy songs, and can still be seen as part of his "prime" run but it was definitely the weakest of the Carter trilogy when it came out.

C2 (his best) > C1 >>> C3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> C4

Dedication 3 and No Ceilings were cool but don't stack up to that 05-07 Weezy. Wayne was certified washed by 2010.

I think the carters go in order of quality from one being very good 2 c4 being almost unlistenable. I thought i was the only one who felt that way about c3, shyt was str8 bushes status. For as big as that album was it wasn't even a top 5 rap album that year

I'm glad I'm not the only one saying he's at least top 3, if not the best.

???

no wonder you don't have this nikka in your top 10. wayne had such a legendary streak that he's still the best rapper alive though his quality dipped heavy.

Ive heard pretty much all of his work. He just was at his best 2 me before he went 2 jail. That's when he had im single, the kobe song, that tyson song, right above it, no ceilings might've been in that time frame 2. He came back from jail more trash

i meant the post c3 thing. his best music came before that tape, imo, though no ceilings doesn't get enough love.

I have never listened to Carter 3 in its entirety..i was anti-CMR after the Carter 2....Though i will say i missed out on some decent music...like father like son is a good album

Im biased towards the Carters..Carter 1 still had that "authentic"CMB sound I loved...And Wayne stepped up to the plate..
Carter 2 now that im older gets looked at in a better light...it had some real bangers on there..But at the time I just wasnt used to an album with no Fresh..

Carter 3 was the gift(Commercial Appeal) and curse simply because :birdman:saw $$$$ and whored him out to the point where his career had no choice but to take a nosedive..

Not everything post c3 just that small gap between after that rock til he went 2 prison he was starting to actually show growth as an artist and a songwriter. Other than that carter 1 is probably his best
