How did you get SSI and how long did the process take for you to get it?I get SSI, no food stamps though cause the income is too high in my household. I pay roughly 40 percent of my monthly check in rent, I make it work though

I applied for SSI in 2012 and got it in 2017. The process might be shorter because my case got closed the first time due to some lawyer fukkery in like 2014/15. Didn't start receiving mental health services until 2016 and got SSI by the spring of 2017. Don't take my word for it on how long the SSI apply process is as my path to getting it certainly wasn't the norm

Speaking of Government assistance, I went four dollars over the 2K limit at the end of July cause I got the August check early and I got charged for a July purchase late sending me over the limit. For July I had budgeted down to a tee and was supposed to have 1,993 dollars in my account when I got my August check but that late charge screwed me 
I have no idea what the punishment will be from Social Security for going over the 2K limit and its giving me a lot of anxiety Sometimes they make you pay back your whole month's check if you go over the limit even if you spent nearly all of it.
Whenever happens, I just hope I get my 2023 COL increase like the other SS recipients will.

It kind of depends..some times there can be a co pay .. but last year I had a hernia fixed and it cost me nothing..there's a certain amount of coverage..I've gotten dental work for free...it costs like two bucks when I see my primary doctor..and discounts on prescriptions..
