No Hands and Mixtape About Nothing saved his career. It ain't like Ross signed that nikka for charitable purposes, he saw potential in the dude and Wale's makin good on it.

This^^^

Plus i dont know why anyone would resent Ross for signing Wale :what:

exactly. Compared to jeezy. Jeezy aint tryna see nobody outta CTE shine other than him. Guccci puts his nyggaz on too tho

nikka this shyt is a internet trend

im can bet everything i got that he sells out shows in dc/dmv

yall just follow the trend and thats wack as fukk

cause wale is nice as fukk

I know this for a fact nikka.

Selling out shows in a region≠ that region loves you.

Gucci Mane gets 10x the love Wale does in DC.... Wale still isn't on Trey Songz level of love in the city.

Wale been getting hated on by DC,PG and MoCo nikkas since "Dig Dug" :russ:

yes, but gucci isn't stable. he's in and out of jail and the dude is just off sometimes. everyone on MMG is visible and has created their own lane....and you can tell that's all ross genuinely wants. he knows that their success inevitably means his success...that's why he's a boss. ross saved wale and omarion from complete obscurity, made a battle rapper (Meek) a legitimate hitmaker (which is an incredible feat in and of itself) and for whatever reason is still riding with Stalley. you know most n*ggas would've given up on Stalley a year and a half ago, but ross is behind him. he's also stuck by gunplay from the jump. i think he's one of the true guys that still believes in giving genuine opportunities to eat. if there's anyone who should be groomed for an executive position at a label in the next 3-5 years it should be ross. like i said, i don't even like his music like that, but i recognize his ability to develop relationships and maintain the talent on his roster. even the fact that he dropped Pill was a credit to his leadership ability. i think he just knew he couldn't really do anything for him so he let him go...instead of leading him on and on and making him some kind of 3rd wheel in the crew. MMG is a true team. that's why i've purchased all their compilation albums despite my dislike for ross as an individual. i respect how he handles his business. he doesn't play with n*ggas dreams.

:salute:

last 2 years nikkas have accepted him where I'm at. I know nikkas round here who ain't a fan of his music but respect what he's doing for the area. He def legit got some fans.

I think the Hate stems from Wale as him being the first to blow in the metropolitan area. nikkas wanted a street nikka to come from the area first. I think if Wale had been the 2nd or 3rd nikka to blow from the area he wouldn't have received nearly the amount of hate. But now since they got the people's champ aka "Fat Trel" nikkas have layed off the animosity towards him. But even back then he use to get some love a lil fukkin with the gogo shyt.

why they hate him?

- being a bytch ass nikka, who's demeanor and personality are abrasive as fukk...and is well known to have tantrums on the regular.

before he was even on, he was walking round with a chip on his shoulder feeling like he was better than everyone.

nikka thought he was 2pac cause some local rapper dissed him:laugh:

- Trying to rep DC extra hard, when he never once went to school in DC, Lived/went to school in Maryland... then tried to come on the scene like none of that was the case, Then he went and pushed the DMV line, which a real DC dude will never do...that DMV shyt is for cats from Maryland and Virginia who wanna feel like they apart of something.

more people hate Wale the person, than they do Wale the rapper....but most peoples hate for him, lies in his personality, not the music.

why they hate him?

It's not that the region hates him, it's just that he's polarizing out here like he is everywhere else. But to the people that don't fukk with him out here, it's generally for one of two reasons. The first is that he's not really the type of representative that people wanted for the first rap act to get national exposure from here. Muthafukkers don't really know this because DC is portrayed so often as a white collar, affluent city nationally (and because gentrification is changing this), but DC is a really hard body city (when I was growing up the shyt was annually the murder cap). nikkas out here, even moreso when Wale first hit the scene, is into and about that hood shyt. Wale doesn't personify that at all, and because of that fact, nikkas looked at him sideways when he first got on, and some of them dudes still do. A Meek Mill type of dude would've been way more relatable to people out here and probably would've consolidated the city much more. For a lot of people though, Wale might as well have been Nelly or some shyt when he dropped.

I don't look at the nikka that way and I never have. I'm a dude that grew up banging the drum, I sold drugs, did time all that stuff, but I never felt like because homie wasn't a rapping version of myself that I couldn't rock with him. In fact, I preferred it that way. I didn't want a typical city nikka at the forefront of our movement. Typical nikkas make typical material. I always viewed Wale as a different dude with different perspectives on things capable of making unique music for someone from out here. I liked the fact that he trafficked in poetry even though that isn't my thing, I like the fact that he can write from a chicks perspective and a sneakers heads perspective and a school boys perspective etc. That makes him more diverse and gives his music more depth and variety to me, much more than a nikka like Trel's music, a dude that's a typical little youngin running around here.

The second thing is when Wale first got on and was trying to cultivate a local following, he was still rough around the edges personality wise. He had a little bit of Kanye in him and used to rant and shyt, and a lot of people out here still haven't moved past that. A lot of people still view him as petulant and when people don't like you personally, they aren't going to support your movement usually.

Anyway, the majority of people out here do like Wale though, it's just that he doesn't own the city and area like he should given his national prominence and status as one of the best young dudes doing it.
