man i was at the gym last week and hit a game winning three 
and this asian dude on the other team comes up and tells me i shoot like paul millsap. i was like 
that's such a random comparison, millsap's shooting form isn't unique enough to be notable... so i ask the dude if hes saying i have good shooting form.
he gives me the

My form used to be great when I was playing in HS. Over the years playing less and less it’s gotten looser. Still good up top but I find myself leaning forward for some reason

I know my form ugly. I was never trained right as a kid so the ball is centered poorly to the point that it looks slightly two-handed, though it's not. As a result I'm far more of a "feel" shooter than I should be, which makes me too streaky when I'm not in good form.
The only benefit to it is that I can sandbag guys with it a bit. I've literally hit that jumper on fools and had them guard me less tightly after the make than they had before thinking that I wasn't gonna do it again and again with that ugly form.
One of the favorite guys I ever played with was this tall skinny completely unathletic white dude who had the worst form I've ever seen. It started somewhere between his chest and his chin and burst straight out like a two-handed shot put with his body thrusting towards the basket at the same time. It was the way a little kid shoots on an 8' hoop when they not strong enough to make a real shot yet.
But the damn fool could make damn near 80% of his threes shooting that way as long as he wasn't guarded. Musta practiced that shyt like a motherfukker.
That guy used to ball at our school gym at nights when I was in college (he was from the local community somewhere, must have been in his 30s). I ALWAYS made sure he was on my team when he was around and would go full Bron with him, just drawing his guy in and then dishing out over and over. We'd often make 3-4 threes that way before the other team would figure out they had to guard the weirdo like he was Klay Thompson.

Not really. I've worked on it a TON this year and went from streaky trash to a decent shooter with a strangely accurate deep three.
I used to shoot similar to Shawn Marion (no one told me to not use my off hand) and now I shoot more similar to Reggie Miller or Curry when I don't jump high.
I still use my left hand (I can't shoot without using it at tbut I keep it straight on the follow through.

I was always known as a great shooter so I think so. In high school when I would shoot in the gyms in front of people, random nikkas would be like "This nikka got a shot" 
I'm still pretty good nowadays but I'm clearly not at the level I once was.
