An uncle of mine won 45k back in the 80s and bought a house that he lived in until he recently passed away. But it was from the numbers, not the government lottery. :yeshrug:

240 million?!! :whoo::banderas:

I won 15k at the casino a month ago, 11k after taxes came out. And I would have won 300k if I’d have followed my gut that night and went to my local casino and played this high limit machine I was obsessing over. If God gives you a lick he’s trying to deliver a bigger win to you.
they pay it out all at once?

Coworker of mines grandfather won some millions. I believe he tried to accept it anonymously but it was in DC which I think can accept anonymous but the local paper or some media source gave enough information about him that ppl knew it was him. Anyways he moved and bought a big house in PG County. He wouldn’t even give his family his address. whenever ppl would visit they’d have to park at the shopping plaza and he’d send a van to go pick them up (I might steal that if I get rich).

The family still squandered the money. He tried to pay for all the grand and great grand kids colleges but many of them were finessing and saying they were living on campus while living at home to keep the extra money amongst other shady shyt. There was supposed to be someone in the family managing it and even he was skimming off the top. The grandfather passed away and I’m not sure how the money was split but the shyt all gone and with nothing to show for it.
moving like he had opps

Yes me technically
as a youngin at the Bodega number spot in the hood I was with mom and grandma as they were about to play their numbers and I asked mom how much would we win If I bet a parlay of 5 dollars, mom told me to shut up, My Grandma being mad superstitious asked me which numbers :leon:

(she liked them cause they were similar to the last 4 digits of my grandpa's work ID which she always played ) and told me to pocket my money and she bet 50 on them numbers on the next lottery coming up that day and they Hit in first and second place which meant max possible payout. Not gonna say how much (if you from the hood you know how much) but for that time it was a big lick, Grandma finish paying off a few mortgages In DR, she spoiled me rotten and when I was older going to college she gave me the rest of the earnings she didn't spend which was about double of what I would have won if I bet the 5 bucks.
bet your mom was looking stupid

Knew a chick who won a million back in the late 90's.
She bought a Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4.
I haven't talked to her in decades. She probably blew it all.

Some places pay you the whole amount if you don’t want taxes out and then you deal with your taxes on the amount next year when you file. This casino took federal regardless because it was a big amount.

the ether
Someone I knew won something like $1.5 million. He was an older guy and his life completely fell apart afterwards, if I remember right his wife died of something that I forgot, his daughter died in a car accident, and then he got a terminal illness and started having financial problems.
