You coulda plugged any 2nd option and got the same results. It was more about not having a running mate in general, if Kobe had someone that could consistently average 18/10 in 06 we prolly win the title that season.
I'm not saying he did anything special, but any Laker fan denying that the Pau trade didn't re-shape Kobe's legacy is blind or trolling.

I don't remember Bird or Magic ever not making the playoffs. I don't remember LeBron (and can't imagine) not making the playoffs once he got in. And I don't remember Jordan not making the playoffs until he came back to the league as a 56 year old from his 7th retirement.

No one disagrees, we only disagree when too much credit is given to Pau when he was more a product of Kobe's greatness at the time. Once Kobe couldn't go we got swept by the mavs and Pau couldn't carry the team on his shoulders for someone who supposedly carried Kobe on his. Pau's importance came in the depth we gained at the 4 and 5 plus his versatility. Aside from that, Odom and Bynum were important as well to Kobe's last run.

Just like a lot of us Laker/Kobe stans blame pau for a lot of things, haters tend to credit him with way too much. Like I said, you give Kobe any 2nd option at the time and we contend. Hell, we were doing just fine since Bynum was ballin that season before injury.

The only time Tim Duncan didn't win 50 games was in a strike shortened season, still maintained that 70% win percentage, missing the playoffs is completely foreign :sas1:

whens the last time he played over 30mpg.

Spurs success is mostly Pop. Duncan was along for the ride the last 7 years.

Still had a below .500 record with all of them playing though
