Do you rock with music in a foreign language?

I think Americans listening to Brazilian music despite not known a word of Portuguese is mainstream at this point

I always hear a few old familiar Brazilian songs on everyone’s playlist or dj mixes these days

And they are still playing 20 year old Baile funk beats like they never heard it before

They shouldn’t even count as foreign music :skip:

Some artists like Diplo, Sango, have based their whole sound and launched careers of sampling Brazilian beats/sound and putting their spin on it

It’s crazy how non Brazilian People really love all types Brazilian music on surface level just for the sound/vibe (kinda like reggae) but it’s even better if you know the lyrics in my opinion

I had a Brazilian friend who put me on to so many great artists :blessed:

You'd have to be ignorant beyond all recognition to say no.

I love Salsa. I love Brazilian Jazz (Bossa Nova). I love traditional Asian folk music of all varieties, from Japan to India alike. I can set my home to all that. And of course the folksy melodies of the motherland in all its different languages. You gotta love music.

I don’t and low key proud of how ignorant my ears are. Mainly because I could see w/e said culture getting cocky you kinda see it here w comments like Latin music been on top or how that k pop stars treat their black fans I’m not supporting that in any fashion and don’t have the time to vet an artist across the globe, let alone learn the language. When hip hop has dominated nikkas don’t be puffing they chest out like that, not because we not humble but because it’s kinda just the standard for us to be the innovators of culture but these other cultures don’t have the same pull so when they get a slice of that attention they get too gassed up for my taste.

Pretty much any black music, I haven't listened to music from across the Diaspora that I thought was total dog water.

I fukk with dembow heavy lol

My Algerian homie showed me some Algerian I music that I was like
:leon:

I looked like a fool doing the debke with some Arabs, but the music made me wanna dance.

I watch anime and grew up to linkin park and other nu metal so I can tolerate Japanese rock music and jazz.

Been to Indian events where the music had me doing that Bollywood stuff lol
